Either the solution to the Galactus situation gets them shunted over to the main MCU or they're going to stay siloed until Secret Wars.

In any case, this looks good. They've got tough competition that they're leaning straight into with the Incredibles, down to the aesthetic. A win-win for everyone if we can get two amazing super families in the same vein.

Just setting it in the 60s, with the "City of Tomorrow" vibe, is a big win in my view. And I am a huge FF fan. It's the one comic I've never stopped collecting in terms of back issues, though it's getting rather expensive now that I am only missing issues with single and double digits to their numbering.

You could practically hear the gears grinding in the last 20 minutes of Wandavision so that we could have the requisite 20 minutes of CGI fighting after hours of trippy meditations on loss and identity.

Regarding gender: I do think gender plays a meaningful role in the story of Surfer over the years with his romantic life and its involvement with his decisions in the comics. He only makes the sacrifice to become the Silver Surfer in exchange for Galactus sparing his love Shalla-Bal, and that tragedy is the heart of the character. His story later involves romances with Mantis and Alicia Masters. These are not meaningless topics for the comics, and his gender isn't meaningless to those plotlines.

That said, a female Surfer is also a meaningful part of the comics, and pretending this is somehow a new twist rather than an existing plot is a misrepresentation. I am fine with this timeline choosing one of the female Surfers, I just hope there is some clear "this is an alternate timeline" mention in the film. Which I think there will be. Of all the "multiverse" comics, FF was historically one of the most consistently multiversey of the comics, beginning with the negative zone early on.
