if the speculation about Galactus actually eating this alternate-Earth happens then yeah, I think Marvel is intentionally not including Norrin Radd in this movie so they can tell the Galactus story while preserving Norrin Radds mainstream mythos.

That’s true of a lot of characters in the MCU, and many of them are significant improvements. The best example there is probably M’Baku. I’d also point to Agatha Harkness, Hawkeye (Clint being a family man first and foremost suits him very well), Valkyrie, and Zemo. Heck, even Bucky in The First Avenger is more or less unrecognisable from the comics - his being Steve’s closest childhood friend (and thus the same age) is an excellent addition to the character. It’s only later that he more closely resembles his 616 counterpart.

The MCU at its best, I think, has never been about faithfully translating our fan and childhood nostalgia to the screen but about retelling and creating new stories which surprise and delight us. Sometimes that doesn’t work - I wasn’t a big fan of Yellowjacket-Cross-MODOK, for instance - but that’s also to be expected.

FYI, that’s basically the Ultimates version of Hawkeye, even down to him going psycho when they were all dead (though due to a Thanos snap as opposed to really dead in the Ultimates).
