I think I put gaming tables in the same category as gaming chairs. Normal games and chairs always worked just fine, so I never saw the value specialized gaming furniture would bring me

Ohhh solid comparison. ya i always thought they looked cool but were ultimately lame because they tried to hard. I would love to carve a giant wooden throne chair for the DM though. Making a necro one or a dragon carved chair would be fun. What i really wanted years ago was to buy a cave so we could play our games underground. That take money though hahaa

In 2008 I went to Amvets and there was a 4' x 8' table for sale. I paid $27 for it and put it in a spare room. We used it to play on for quite some years but now there's only a few of us so it's just easier to play in the living room on a Lifetime folding table.

Yeah, I hear ya there. I own a couple folding plastic tables. at the FLGS, they have the banquet-table style plastic ones (the top doesn't fold, but the legs do).
