You can get it from dtrpg I didn’t see a print option
L2 is hard to find in the wild, and not cheap if-when you do.Thanks! Have yet to see it come up on Ebay, but oh well. Doesn't really sound like one to run, just for the completist that spends all my money, lol.
It's fairly easy (relatively speaking) to mash B-X and 1e into a playable system by stripping out some of the complexities of 1e as written (weapon speed, weapon-vs-armour-type, initiative, etc.) while keeping its expanded lists of spells and monsters. For funsies, I'm putting those 4 B/X characters (and 2 more!) thru MaximumMayhem's mini dungeon #1 Necromancers something something, lol. Really cool adventure!
As someone who hasn't played any TSR era D&D since 3e came out, I was flabbergasted at how much loot there was! Then I remembered: XP is primarily awarded for treasure recovered, not monsters stomped. No wonder my old DM is stuck in "separate the players from their loot at every turn" mode...
My modern sensibilities are revolting at the limited spell lists included with B/X. So many where's this? and what, no that? I now remember WHY we eagerly scoured every new rulebook, splatbook, and campaign setting for more spells, lol. Once they level out of the Basic rulebook, I'll switch them over to 1 or 2e for further use- if they live. (the dungeon level is wicked!) The vast majority of my modules are for AD&D- or 3e/5e- not B/X.

Actually not as bad as I thought - about $30 US for one in decent condition, according to acaeum.comHow much for a copy?
I randomly found it in my collection.

It's L3 that's rare and expensive - probably north of $150 US if in good shape.
That's pretty much what we did. We also used it's take on classes and races. Existing B/X characters were just grandfathered in.L2 is hard to find in the wild, and not cheap if-when you do.

We did Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh.L2 was the first adventure I played in Middle School D&D Club.
Yup. Another option is carousing for XP (numerous versions on various OSR blogs over the past 15-odd years), and of course the original expectation was that PCs were going to be spending a bunch on expert Specialists who cost lots of cash every month (X21), Mercenaries (X22) for domain play, and a bunch of it would eventually be going to build a castle or other stronghold at name level (X52)As someone who hasn't played any TSR era D&D since 3e came out, I was flabbergasted at how much loot there was! Yup. This is part of why Old School Essentials Advanced Edition is so popular. It takes all those extra spells and monsters and magic items B/X is missing and tastefully re-writes/edits them into the B/X format. Of course you can always do that work yourself pretty easily, too. For my taste a lot of the AD&D spell descriptions get a little fiddly and excessive, but I've imported them and cut them down as needed. My modern sensibilities are revolting at the limited spell lists included with B/X.
