You're approached by a Hollywood exec...

Interesting. I've read quite a lot of Superman stuff from the late 1980s onwards and certainly have no memory of ever coming across that rather than "Earth's Yellow Sun", and also I know in quite a lot of it, Superman rapidly loses his strength and toughness when not receiving those "Yellow Sun" rays, which would mean that it literally couldn't be "primarily" due to being from a high-G planet in those cases. I guess a lot of people writing Superman for comics/TV/movies also have forgotten this? Like, in Lois Lane and Superman, they can imprison Superman and other Kryptonians in a downright flimsy-seeming jail just by basically having a "Red Sun" emitter and no daylight (no Kryptonite needed), but if they were primarily super-strong and tough/dense due to being high-G, that wouldn't work, you'd still need an incredibly tough super-jail.
I was reading/collecting in the 1960s and 1970s, so I bear the Old Knowledge ;)

My pitch:

•XCrawl tv-show that Is planned for 2 seasons and 3 movies (with two movies serving as the end cap of each season and one extra movie as a special event).
•The tent posts of tone would be a little bit Twisted Metal; a little bit Running Man; a little bit Generation V; and a little bit Hunger Games
•Partner with Goodman Games to create game content that mirrors the show, with special foil cover releases during the movies

Y'know, there are actually a couple things I'd like to see adapted from the work of Simon R. Green - you could do a hell of an animated series based on his Nightside books, and I think you could probably get at least two good seasons out of his fantasy-buddy-cop Hawk & Fisher series.

Honestly they could probably just do a LARP X-Crawl reality game show which might be hugely fun if someone had the budget. And the insurance. Oh god the insurance, even with foam weapons and LED torches and so on that'd be significant but Survivor manages it!

Seeing as how the “sport” in the Running Man movie was presented as a chimera of the NFL and American Pro Wrestling with a dash of Death Race & Rollerball*, your pitch for X-Crawl is a tonal bullseye.

And they’d probably be smart to cast some of the wrestlers & athletes with SAG cards for key roles & cameos.**

* I may be wrong, but I think those 2 movies were cited as inspiration for X-Crawl

When I was little, Tarzan was really big, and I saw the Hammer movies based on ERB stories at the cinema.
Tarzan has, until relatively recently, been cyclical in the public eye. Apparently Sony now has the rights and is planning on having another go at the character.

Like John Carter, Tarzan's stories influenced more than just genre fiction. Will ERB's stories have their time in the sun again? Maybe, maybe not. Nosferatu is a remake of a film 100 years old, and was one of the biggest box office successes of 2024.
