Phar didn't like a situation where he couldn't tell where an enemy was but events were moving too quickly for him to act. He decided to slow things down.

With words of power, time seemed to slow down for everyone.
The swirling mist around Phar begins to slow with the magic. It turns the landscape into a more surreal one, but at least you all will be able to react better if... when the unknown foe comes out of the haze.

You uses your senses to try to locate anything in the haze. The distant sound of the howling wind doesn't help matters. You strain your eyes and ears to try to figure out what could be out there. Phar only hears the wind.

However, he sees something in the distance beyond the crags to the southeast. At first, it looks as if one of the crags shifts in the mist. It is hard to see clearly but there is something standing somewhere behind those crags. And, it is huge. Phar sees what might have been the glow of its eyes in the mist, but then it is gone. Whatever is there is over 100 feet away, perhaps farther.

"Be mindful," Qi whispers. Phar only hears the intelligent baton's words due to Aureus's proximity.

Ten feet behind Phar, on his left, Locke also strains to see anything in the swirling fog. He watches the left flank for anything else that might be visible, but all he can see in the glowing light from the burning pits of lava roughly 50 feet to the east of him. Both Litrix and Maur stand 5 feet away from him -- Litrix just ahead of him and Maur behind him to his right.

Quinn, as well, stands to the right of Locke... just over 5 feet away. The human knight draws Cruel Justice from its scabbard and mentally commands the blade to glow... but just enough to illuminate the immediate area around himself. "I cannot see a thing," he says to Maur in a low voice. Quinn shifts his stance to watch the other flank and sets himself for anything that might come out of the mists.

At the front of the formation, Angus strains to hear or see anything in the mists beyond. Who- or whatever spoke is now choosing to remain hidden.

Aureus, as well, stretches out with her senses. She does her best to ignore the smell of the brimstone coming from the nearby pools of lava. She looks at Phar and shakes her head.

OOC: I am waiting for @Tellerian Hawke to roll his Listen and Spot checks for Angus. I'm talking to him through FB messenger right now.

I still haven't heard from @ScottDeWar_jr.

Angus will ready an action: He is guarding toward the front flank, sword and board at the ready. If anything threatening steps out of the fog, he will attack it.
Angus stares into the fog intently. He sees nothing but the swirling mists. He hears nothing but the unsettling sounds of the wind. Phar's magic slows down the world around the Harqualian centaur.

Once they entered, he moves with the group, keeping up with the sled, trying to see whatever is threatening the group.
Litrix tries to pierce through the misty haze of The Gloom. The constant twilight of the demiplane is unsettling. Litrix tries to see movement through the mist and tries to hear if there is anything moving nearby.

Maur prepares to hit whatever comes at him from the swirling mists. Setting his feet, his armor starts to lock in.
The mists continue to swirl and Maur senses that all are tensed and ready to fight. However, whatever is out there is now choosing stealth.

Phar wasn't one hundred percent sure what the beast was but he decided to communicate the worst case scenario,

"Dragon! One hundred feet over there."

He points to the South east crags,

"Try not to group up."


Phar would have warned everyone immediately. I'm not sure if people want to change their readied action. If it is a dragon, we probably don't want to be grouped up. I think Haste is still the best choice for my first round as it gives people a chance to spread out.

Phar moves quietly to the south. If the fog is obscuring their view then, surely, it will obscure them from the creature. He readies to interrupt the creature with a spell if it attacks.


I'm readying to interrupt the creature's attack - not its movement. So, if it is a dragon, and it breaths, Phar will cast. If it runs in and attacks physically, Phar will cast. I assume I have to declare what I'm casting. I put it in spoiler if you want to wait to do your action before you see what it is.

Wall of Force

Sneaking (half movement - movement is currently 60 due to haste) 30 feet. One square West and 5 squares South.

"Or sound of inhalation." adds Litrix moving away from Phar and Maur toward the dragon.
"If not corrupted, it might recognize us."

He raises the sword high, both for better visibility and to better strike if he's attacked suddenly.

Ooc: move where Phar pointed, 30 feet and 5 to the side. Ready action to attack if attacked
