Shadowdark Western Reaches Stretch Goal: New Classes

Hopefully this makes the "paladin is on the priest title list, so that class is already covered" folks chill out. There are some hardcore this-game-book-is-a-bible folks out there in Shadowdarkland.

Perhaps an expression of "4 classes is correct" conservatism.
I keep seeing the titles specifically cited as though they're somehow preventing classes with those names from being created.

"Lawful level 10 priests are already paladins! Read the book, guys!"

By this logic, knights, barbarians, warlocks and seers would also never have been made classes or potentially made classes, either in Cursed Scrolls or the players guide. It's a very silly recurrent argument.

Here's a quick take on a barbarian. With this approach, the barbarian is definitely one you want to have in the party when the torches go out.

Shadowdark Barbarian

Weapons: All Weapons

Armor: Leather Armor, Shield

HP: d10 per level

Rage: At the start of combat you can choose to rage, gaining advantage on your melee attacks. All attacks against you have advantage while raging. The rage lasts until combat ends or you have 0 hp. You can rage a number of time per day equal to your Con modifier.

Athletic: You have advantage on climbing, sneaking, and hiding checks.

Tough: You can add your Con bonus to your armor class when not wearing armor or using a shield.

Barbarian Talents

2 You can rage an additional time per day

3-6 +1 to melee attacks

7-9 +2 to Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution stat

10-11 Gain +1 to your AC when unarmored and not using a shield

12 Choose a talent or +2 points to distribute to stats

We need a Barpaladarian class.

Title had always felt superfluous to me. I’m not sure what it actually drives in-game. Even Background technically has mechanical effects—for reasonable checks connected to your background, you should be granted automatic success.
It appears reputation is going to replace whatever the intent behind Titles might have been.
