D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

This leaves no room for criticism except by those who put up with the flaws. It's useful to know what preferences are in play, but someone who dislikes a system can still identify problems with it to allow those who like a system to improve it.
There's nothing constructive to be taken away from "it's bad design because I don't like it" which is just about all we see.

I would imagine @ezo just doesn't want to bother with it. Rightly OR wrongly. But that doesn't even matter because they can choose to not use 3PP AND still be saddened that WotC isn't going to produce product they want. But if they've accepted that reality... that's pretty much all that needs to be done.

I guess I find it hard to believe when someone dismisses everything out of hand and thinks they know better than most (all?) others in the hobby yet continues to decry lack of support/options for their preferences. I felt compelled to figure out if I could offer something, anything that might resemble help or at least understanding.

TL;DR: Your analysis ends up being spot on.

Ah... I see I'm being ignored now... oh well. I have no idea why, I thought I was having a conversation in good faith. 🤷‍♂️

It's not really possible to escape preference in criticism. "I want to know if I hit with my attack" is a preference - a thing you "like". It's a matter of filtering out bad faith and preferences you don't share.

I'm not sure how else to read your second paragraph as-written. Did you mean to imply "some" instead of "all" without actually stating "some"? Darned natural language. :p
I'm saying some people believe their emotions are true to objective reality, and those people will argue that because the game is no longer appealing to their emotions that the game must therefore be getting worse.
