Citation for that? AFAIK they have been in good shape financially since the success of Divinity Original Sin. Of course if BG3 had failed they would have been in trouble, but that's just the reality of independent game dev, you're always one failed game away from bankruptcy.

PC Gamer is a trash rag that panders to the kind of people who approve of a game that released in the same sort of state that Sigil did—just because that game actively catered to angry straight white men who want anyone not like them to be written as monsters or subhuman.

Ironically, pandering to the same people is what killed 2024 5e, because TTRPGs became a place more welcoming to diverse players at the same time GamerGate was turning video games into an alt-right cult. The people who stan Larian do so because they want non-white races to exist as innately evil, and the 2024 approach of "pretend we're moving away from that (and then give them non-white elves to slaughter in the first major release)" peeved such people off.

Next you'll tell me Larian isn't racist because they didn't bother finishing Karlach's storyline at launch and retconned her dialogue instead of actually giving her the intended good ending to her questline, and aren't racist because Lae'zel's entire personality is an extension of her entire people being written as Stupid Evil since their writers don't see anyone who isn't a human or elf having any identity outside of their species.

You lost me here. I'm not aware of the Gamergate crowd being especially enamored of BG3, and I find it very hard to imagine, given that game features two of the most badass females in the history of video games, neither of which is at all conventionally attractive. Also tons of gay-coding up to and including actual gay romance.

(Now, as far as UNconventionally attractive, Karlach is all kinds of yum. But she's exactly the type of female character that crowd hates.)
