WotC Would you buy WotC products produced or enhanced with AI?

Hi folks! I am curious about what would be a dealbreaker for people who buy WotC products.

I see a lot of talk on social media about “AI” being used to make WotC products sooner or later.

Now I am curious: if you knew a product was the direct result of the recent public tools often referred to as AI, would you buy it?

To be more exact, by this I mean that the final product has content that was generated with an “AI” tool and did not get touched or edited by a designer, artist or editor in any way to become the final product.

The art from one of the artists in Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants had art that was rendered with one of the first public tools that could do this. This meant he artist made the design, but used AI to make the details. I would call this using AI to make art, in this situation.

Whatever answer you give, feel free to explain your view on the matter, but please refrain from calling each other out. I know this can be a hot topic, but I am genuinely curious about your personal view.

I voted "probably not" because while i don't think there is any value in AI generated creative content, AI as a tool IS useful for lots of creative work. If WotC integrated AI tools for GMs into Beyond (and I was a Beyond customer; I am not currently) that would not bother me. But I would not purchase D&D written or illustrated by AI.

Yes, a DM tool made using their own data would probably be ok with me. For this question I try to contain things to content they are already producing now, like books and minis

Voted "yes but only if..." because that's closest to my real view: if I couldn't tell the difference, I likely wouldn't care.

The "if you knew it was AI" clause likely wouldn't apply to me, as that implies forethought and research; such few purchases as I make these days are spur-of-the-moment on seeing something in ye olde FLGS that catches my eye.

Interesting topic... considering that we can use AI to generate RPG content for our own use, if publishers are now going to use AI too then the question becomes, why would we still need publishers?

Good question! That is a question each of us has two answer for ourselves.

I voted "No, never". But note the phrasing of the question: products with content made by AI, as opposed to an AI tool for sale that uses their in-house data; a DM tool that uses some form of AI to make my job easier sounds fine. (I mean, I can probably code one that does quite a lot without coming close to an actual AI.) But writing, art, or -- oof rules made by AI, which is pretty much the "content" I'm purchasing, no, not interested.

It very much depends on it's nature. Like I am not going to accept a book either written by AI or with it's art done by AI, basically a book is not something AI related I would get.

Like the most acceptable thing is maybe a random map generator using some tilesets, or something that helps build encounters, but I don't know if it can really even do that.
