GOD RULES: Player's Guide (5e) Kickstarter Pre-Launch Page

I'll just drop in to add . . .

I'd be happy to back an RPG book that had a mix of artist-commissioned black-and-white illustrations, artist-commissioned color illustrations, "sketches" and even stock art and public domain art.

I'd also be okay with a book that is relatively light on art versus its page count.

I'd much rather that than an RPG book with even one AI-generated piece of artwork.

Question: would you back if there was an option to get a full color version with AI art (but replaced with commissioned art as stretch goals are funded)?

So you have following, depending on your pledge:
  1. BW art version with all commissioned art.
  2. Full color version with commissioned art and AI images. With each piece of AI art replaced by commissioned art as funding of stretch goal funding allows.
Basically, would the existing of a potentially a version with images, even though you don't have pledge for that option, prevent you from backing the project?

For me art is nice, but it's never the reason I buy a game book. It's all about the text.

But of course, you and I have had this discussion.
For this specific project, for me, it is all about the text!
I'm looking strictly for mechanics and inspiration, I have enough to work on when it comes to storyline...

And that pencilled pic upthread is pretty good come to think of it.

Isn't storyline text and art about inspiration? I realize they can go both ways, but that is how it generally works for me:

mechanics & storyline = text
inspiration = art

If I wasn't familiar with the publishing company or the author/creator . . . no, I would not back a campaign where AI-generated art is part of any version of the book.

But, in cases where I am somewhat familiar, such as with folks here like @Steampunkette or @Upper_Krust, if I feel there is a good faith effort to move away from AI-generated art, then I just might back the project . . . depending on the specifics. But I would be hesitant and wary . . . I really am opposed to the use of AI-generated art in almost every circumstance.

Thanks for the reply amigo.

I'm still weighing up my options, but currently leaning towards:

1. A Black and White Pencil Artist Sketch Edition (100% Real Art)
2. A Colour version (mix of Real Art and AI Art/Repainted) but with Stretch Goals to replace AI art with Real Art.

That seems to be the simplest option.

I'll decide on the specifics over the next day or so.

That is the goofiest monster i have ever seen. I love it, very creative.

Not sure that even gets into the top ten craziest monsters in the first of my upcoming Epic Bestiary books...but it is one of my favourites.

I actually came up with the idea after I created a Table in the Bestiary for GMs to randomly roll a crazy monster idea and I was just testing it out and rolled up the Apocalypse Camel...and I just thought that's a cool monster idea so the Apocalypse Camel is one of the 14 (planned) sections in the Epic Bestiary - sort of like Elder Evils (if you know that book). So imagine 28 pages of monsters on 1-2 related themes. This one has Exiled Archdevils in its volcanic humps plus also the Camel itself also comes with crazy insects/parasites that move about it - plus you can also enter its blood stream and encounter all manner of giant microbes and stuff.

So expect each Bestiary entry to spark loads of Campaign ideas. I'll maybe consider doing some maps for it too.
