New video game developer Giant Skull is developing a new D&D video game. Variety announced the new untitled game today, which will be a single-player action-adventure game set in one of the worlds of the game.

Giant Skull was founded by Stig Asmussen in 2023. Asmussen previously was the game director of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, as well as God of War 3.

“Stig and the team at Giant Skull are exactly the type of exceptionally talented creators we want to work with, and I’m so happy to be reuniting with him on this new project,” Wizards of the Coast chief and digital gaming president at Hasbro John Hight told Variety. “In our time working together on ‘God of War I’ got to see firsthand Stig’s artistry and expertise, and he and the Giant Skull team are the perfect fit for our new game. Worldbuilding and storytelling is in our DNA, and this collaboration reflects our evolution and commitment to our ‘Playing to Win’ strategy, building a stronger presence in digital play. We look forward to revealing more about this brand-new ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ game in the future.”

Given that IWD1 and 2 where not 1st person action games, that seems extremely unlikely.
I mean, neither BG1 nor BG2 were turn-based, so that's not entirely something we can count on with any certainly.

That said, BG: Dark Alliance is an already existing ARPG franchise that many have fond memories of, so if we're expecting to see a franchise revival that seems most likely. Especially if they play up the BG aspect and about associations with that garbage Drizzt game that they called Dark Alliance for some reason.

Otherwise NWN was always a PC-driven franchise in full third person glory, that seems more likely than IWD (which, again, might suffer more from the stink of Dark Alliance than the actual BG:DA series)

So what? Neither was an action game, neither was 1st person, neither where based around a single protagonist, and neither remotely resembled Jedi: Survivor.

It’s possible they might try to revive the IWD franchise (most likely as a turn based strategy game as that is what is currently popular) but that game sure ain’t this game.

Frankly, there is no reason to suppose this is anything 3, 4, 5 or 6, and not its own thing 1.

Clearly it is Hillsfar 2.

I guess it will be an off-line single player game. My question is this to be a premade MC, multiple options or customizable. it should be this last, where you could choose class and PC specie.

That is possible, but the director pedigree suggests defined protagonist. It's probably yet another attempt to get video gamers to care about Drizzt.
