3PP Release New Release: Single-Class Synergy, Volume 3: Higher Callings

Timespike

A5E Designer and third-party publisher
Volume 3 of Single-Class Synergy is now available! This volume covers the adept, druid, and herald first-party classes and the champion and witch third-party classes. The champion is found in Martial Artistry that just released earlier this month!

For those who haven't seen the previous two threads corresponding to the earlier releases in the series: I chose the name single-class synergy because the feat chains work very much like multiclass synergy feats do in terms of progression: they have level-based prerequisites, build on each other, let you do more and/or different things with your class resources and reward investment into the chain.

This installment is up on Drivethru for $7 right now. Also: most of my back catalog is included in the Christmas in July sale, so if there's something you've had your eye on, chances are it costs less right now!

Nice! Let's see, that only leaves my beloved Sorcerer class left out from the base classes, and Bloodblade, Elementalist, Gunslinger, Sentinel, and Warcaster which you mentioned before as upcoming. And possibly Savant, depending on whether it's added to the SRD as you mentioned. Oh wait, I forgot about the Firelord that was just introduced in the 'Fable of Flames' supplement. So seems likely that we'll get at least a volume 4 too. Maybe volume 5 would cover the Voidrunner classes? It's fun to speculate. Anyway, I'm off to add volume 3 to my collection :)

You missed a couple and/or gave me more credit than I'd earned on the AG classes! We've still got the bard, berserker, and marshal in addition to the sorcerer out of that book, and there's also the artificer from GPG 0, too!

The next two releases will be called Arcane Power and Frontline Fury. Arcane Power will cover the Artificer, Bard, Elementalist, Sorcerer, and Warcaster classes and Frontline Fury will cover the Berserker, Bloodblade, Marshal, Gunslinger, Sentinel, and maybe the Savant.

The Firelord is a motif class, so that's not going to be directly covered, though it's possibly eligible for the motif class work-around? Also: Enzo Salvado (the creator of the firelord) provided three feats to go with it in that same release, so I think it's pretty well covered!

I am not yet sure whether the August release will be Arcane Power or Frontline Fury. Once both Frontline Fury and Arcane Power are out, that'll be a "season" of this line and it'll be going on hiatus for a little while. I will probably return to this line in 2026 to tackle the VRC classes and possibly some from the Complete Class Compendium Mike Myler is releasing, depending on when that comes out. And of course work continues on The Forgotten Vault: Unlocked and I am planning to do Multiclasser's Manual, Volume 3 after that - and you can expect MMV3 to be even larger than MMV2 was.

Artificer is also "missing".
It's mentioned up there and will be in one of the planned releases, have no fear!

While the primary goals of this and my other releases are to add something cool to the system and make enough money at it to make continuing worthwhile, the SCS line has two secondary goals: maintain a release schedule while I work on a large project (in this case, FVU) and provide a steady stream of development funds for that large project so I can buy stock art, pay Rory for balance review, etc.

The "maintain a release schedule" goal requires the products to be on the smaller side so I can get them written, balance reviewed, and then laid out and released without disrupting the work on FVU too much, which is why they're coming out in smaller batches rather than just being another large release on the pile.

Oh I missed this!

Just out of curiosity, looking at Paritor for the Champion, is there a circumstance I'm not thinking of where there's a difference between a "+1 bonus to attacks vs." and "treat AC as 1 lower" matters? That seemed strangely academic when I first read it.

5e and A5e aren't huge proponents of static bonuses, so that language seemed like a good way to "backdoor" a similar effect. Mathematically, it's identical though, you are correct.

There's also a minor flavor element of their protections being less protective against you and your allies, rather than you and your allies as being more accurate.

Maybe eventually, but it's been a while since that page has been updated.

Drivethru does have a Level Up category, though, so that's a good way to see the latest and greatest from those of us in the third-party community; that includes newer entries into the space like Variant Codex Press and Owl(some) Games.
