The impression I was given, was that the community was very generous when it came to taking other peoples ideas and making them for thier own.
I’d be curious to know how your game system resolves Diplomacy checks, if such things exist.

Do you have some type of live-streamed game in progress that could serve to introduce your game?
If so, that could serve as a bridge, allowing people to evaluate the game while bypassing some of your concerns.

I usually come up with character concepts based on available mechanics then I come up with a backstory and personality from there.

If given some guidelines for character creation, I'd be happy to test them.

Diplomacy...While I do not in fact have that as a specific ability it would break down to 2 parts...one a dice role based on Self (stat) and what the player themselves might present. Sometime a good roleplay will supercede a mechanic. But when players lack the imagination to do so, things break down to a dice role. I have found there are many calibres of players in this scene. Some are quite competent and vocal about thier characters and actions, while others prefer the dice to do the talking. I leave room for both.

Admittedly my system caters to the players individual style, so gaming experiences may flux in accordance to the group itself. YOu can play very rules based and by the book, or freeflowing and loose. If people are having fun, then mission accomplished.
