Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

I do think with Daggerheart that is less of a barrier right now than with a lot of RPGs, because of that Critical Role media element and attention.
Also the design of the game itself.

I got my box set, and having the domain cards means that my book hasn't had to be passed around the table. We've done char gen and leveled up and no one has had to put their grubby mitts on my book. The lighter rules means I have a tablet open to an encounter manager site (though I have just printed off preplanned combat encounters as well) and that's the only tech being used.

No phones, no apps, just stacks of pokers chips, pencils and paper and dice and it feels light and liberating to play this way.

I’m one who grudgingly admits the cards are a good idea. And they had to ship with the core book or they’d just be ignored.

I do think there are downsides but so far the positives have been better.
Hmmm, interesting to hear your experience from that: the cards did not appeal to me in abstract.

They are purely optional but also highly utilitarian. They help players who are bad at reading sheets and/or keeping options available in their heads. They are an accessibility tool, not a system requirement, if that makes sense.
Is that a problem with Daggerheart? That there are a lot of players who can't read?

Sorry, you walked into that one. 🤗 Happy Tuesday.
