D&D General Forgotten Realms Book preview from NYCC

Nerd Initiative on YouTube previewed the new Forgotten Realms books with Mackenzie De Armas in this short video, including a quick flip-through of the Adventures in Faerun book.

During the quick flip-through, he shows off blurry but mostly readable pages from the Dalelands section of the book, including a few of the DMG-style adventures, including a level 13 adventure called Heart of Fire, where the party is asked to recover a magic item in an Adult Red Dragon's hoard.

Notably, none of the adventures I could read in the video seem to have any new monsters from the book included.

Also, not all of the adventures are confined to a single page. Some seem to be at least a page and a half, while others are even smaller to just a half page.

The inside book cover map of adventures in the faerun seems to look like the map in Beetles and Grimm's DM Screen map.

Also glimpsed the Dalelands map, it appears to include not just the Dalelands, but Moonsea and The Vast, like cities like Raven's Bluff. Very detailed, not just the Dalelands part of the map.

Yup, seems pretty similar to what they did with Greyhawk in the DMG.

Had a good read, by screenshotting the video. I’m sure others can do it better but it was enough to get a good glimpse.

Myth Drannor restored to its former ruined glory: That section hits all the 2ed buttons - the Onnaglym, broken malfunctioning mythal, temple of moonbow, castle cormanthor. Looks like shade falling on it only added weirdness without taking away any of the good stuff. Definitely feels like the shennanigans from 3e and 4e that spoiled it as an adventure location have been undone. Plus that beautiful map we saw in Beadle and Grimms is in the book. Which is great.

Speaking of maps. That is the best quality map of the Dalelands released to date. Detailed enough that the towns and villages are mentioned but it also covers the whole of the area - including Daggerdale and Archendale. If you can believe there wasn’t one that ticked all those boxes released until now. As someone who thinks Daggerdale is the most interesting Dale that makes me very happy.

Can’t wait to see inside the player book.
