I was thinking about this earlier. Probably the number three actual play features some very experienced performers who could almost certainly pull this off, especially if they got a budget to have an art and production team comparable to Critical Role or Dimension 20: The Adventure Zone.

I've sort of fallen off with listening to them, since I don't find their worldbuilding entertaining and some of their non-D&D campaigns have not been their best, to put it mildly.

But they're known commodities, absolute workhorses, have had successful live touring shows and have decent name recognition in the podcast space, even beyond the actual play space.

I would not be surprised to learn that the McElroys have been talking to Netflix and/or Spotify.

I haven't watched nor listened nothing from them before. I might check it out. Any suggestions?

I think The Adventure Zone, featuring the McElroy family (who have, between them, 20 million other podcasts) might have been either the first or second actual play podcast. (I think Acquisitions Inc. predates them, but wasn't a podcast, as far as I know.)

Their first campaign is still probably their best one.

The first episode is them playing through Lost Mine of Phandelver, although things pretty quickly go off the rails: The Adventure Zone | Maximum Fun

There's a great time travel arc later on, but I think it's probably a bad starting point to jump in on.

Their original campaign is also collected into a series of graphic novels, if you prefer that: https://us.macmillan.com/books/9781250153708/theadventurezoneheretherebegerblins/

The campaign is nominally in the Forgotten Realms, because that's where LMoP is set, but the moment they leave Phandalin, it's their own world.
