The Critical Role animated series The Legend of Vox Machina is now free on YouTube for a limited time. To promote the launch of the next series of the show, Prime Video has put up the entirety of the first two seasons of The Legend of Vox Machina on their YouTube channel. The episodes will remain up through October 3, which conveniently is when the next season of the show premieres. You can watch the first episode of the show down below:

The Legend of Vox Machina is the result of a successful Kickstarter campaign run way back in 2021, with Critical Role raising over $11 million to fund production of the first season. Amazon Studios picked up the show and renewed it for subsequent seasons. Critical Role and animation studio Titmouse are also developing an animated series based on the show's second campaign, with The Mighty Nein show expected to air in 2025. The cast of Critical Role, all of whom are professional voice actors, voice their respective characters in the shows, with DM Matt Mercer lending his voice talents to a variety of characters and villains.

Watched the first two episodes.
This writing really is bad, huh.
Amazon not putting up actual subtitles to Youtube is not helping my viewing experience.
That sure is a lot of half-elves... (and for classes that don't even use Cha, so it's not even for the free stats?)
Scanlan without Sam Riegel grinning is just incredibly annoying, and I say that as someone that doesn't even watch CR.
I wish there was even one funny thing in here.
The party is definitely a PC party, as no-one is interested in having any stakes in anything.

So, is it worth watching further? I know pilots can be rough, but my god.
Yes, definitely worth it. I do agree that the first two episodes weren't the best, but once things start rolling, it's a fun ride.

What level were they when they fought against the first dragon? Weren't the first episodes the same plot than in the actual play show where they started with 1st level?

The Vox Machina campaign started as a home game and the first two episodes are loosely based off of events that happened late in those games. Based on the fact that the stream started at level 9 I would guess they were level 7 for that dragon.

OK. But knowing that requires watching a movie series that the series' own website says is "starring Kevin Sorbo."
All i can say, is I thoroughly enjoyed them. It like watching a DnD group form/adventure.

And Kevin Sorbo has the least effect on that than nearly any other actor. He's not even in the group.

Should've been billed as "occasionally appearing guest star" at most.

I'm not a CR fan (or anti-fan) but wasn't the original adventures in Pathfinder? That would have tempted players to pick half-elves, I suppose.

Everything is subjective so I find the writing serviceable, but not out and out bad.
The original one-shot used 4E. When they switched to a campaign they went with Pathfinder. And switched to 5E just before the stream.
