The Table of Contents for both Heroes of Faerun and Adventures in Faerun.

Picked the books up this morning and love what I’ve seen so far. I’ll answer whatever questions I can here.

How? How is your campaign dead? Did you suddenly lose all of your FR stuff? If you started 14 years ago, you have the 3e FR stuff which in my opinion is the best stuff out there for it. I haven't seen the new book, so I don't know if I like it or not, but even if it stinks, it not can't kill my FR campaign, it can't even hurt it.
This was the same argument used against older fans when 4e realms released. No they dont take your books. But you no longer feel a part of it because the support is something radically different than your campaign. When YOU decide to go against canon its no problem. When canon goes against you it takes fun away

Exactly! I completely ignored the major 4e changes and my campaign continued on unfazed. We've continued to have a blast in the Realms up through today and I expect well beyond. If something new happens that I like, I simply absorb it into my Realms.

This. You described what I'm feeling but was unable to translate. It's that feeling that you don't feel the game fun anymore.

Anyone who got the book can check who are the Baldur's Gate Dukes?
With BG3 killing Stelmane and Portyr (and potentially Ravengard) out of four and implying one is either dead or ousted before the game started, I'm curious about the council new formation.
BG3 also had a bunch of doppelgängers, not all of whom were killed.

The big difference here is that us the few people that started with 4e, have been punished by that twice: in 2014 and now, in 2025.
Personally, I think they should have just said 4e FR never happened, because all that FR stuff was absolutely terrible*. Attempting to integrate it just makes everyone unhappy.

*and I mean objectively. I’ve never been one for setting purity, my game, my setting, even if I use something published as a basis. But Dragonborn from space is both ridiculous and has racist connotations. They were always there in small numbers and just weren’t mentioned in some histories is far more plausible, and works for any PC species you care to add.

Heck, personally I'd roll back the entire metaplot to 1E, which would also make more sense than all the chaos of 150 years across a continent landing at pretty close to the status quo of 150 years previous.

From Heroes of Faerun:

Chapter 4 - Could you say what the mechanical wonders, mounts, travel, and vehicles items are? Are they new things, or reprints?

From Adventures in Faerun:

Chapter 4 - Same about the mechanical wonders, there.
Chapter 9 - What is the info on Nimblewright steeds?

That's fine but many of us rejected it whole cloth. We switched to Pathfinder and continued the realms there or just adopted another world.

When you are invested in the world for more than your campaign its not so easy to do. Many realms fans had their campaign taking place within the general timeline.
