Like the Celestial eladrin, at long, long last 😭
How would these 2e Eladrin even translate into 5e?

Essentially, they are all a 5e 2024 Elf.

It is hard to say whether they are primordially Fey, or else maybe Humanoid or Celestial. The "first elves" -- the ones that shapechange at will -- seem like they are Fey. So the restoration of Elves would be Fey as well.

Are the 2e Eladrin no longer racist hierarchies, but simply different Elf "lineages" now, without an inherent superiority/subordination?

In 2e they were variants of ordinary Elf "subraces".

Tulani ~ Grey Elf
Ghaele ~ High Elf
Firre ~ Half Elf

Bralani ~ Wild Elf (Grugach)
Shiere ~ Wood Elf
Noviere ~ Aquatic Elf ~ Nixie

Coure ~ Drow banished! so Pixie instead

Maybe the 5e Elf lineages are useful here? So a 5e translation has something like:

Tulani - Astral Elf (Spelljammer)
Ghaele - High Elf
Firre - Eladrin Elf (Mordenkainan)
Bralani - Athas Elf (Dark Sun)?
Shiere - Wood Elf
Noviere - Sea Elf (Mordenkainen)
Coure - Drow Elf!

And if so, none of these Celestial elven cultures imply "rank".

Or oppositely, these strictly refer to a political rank and any elven lineage might apply for any office. The Ghaele might be Drow, and so on. If so, maybe these political titles are epic destinies - and may be they arent Celestials but rather Archfey who inhabit the Celestial Planes.

And how would Eladrin even fit in among the planar "natives"? Is it so that Aasimon=LG Angel, Eladrin=CG Angel, Devil=LE Devil, and Demon=CE Demon? Are these Eladrin Fey who became Celestial, viceversa Celestial who became Fey, or both.

In any case, the 2e Eladrin dont translate straightforwardly at face value into 5e.

I agree that they don't correspond in a straightforward way with the elf surfaces anymore, but I'm sure they could find some way to keep the Faerie/Elven essence while also being a Chaotic Good outsider race.

After all, 2024's Monster Manual has Modrons fighting "slaadi, demons, and Chaotic Fey" despite not having many/any Chaotic fey in the Monster Manual.

I think Birthright would be fun. Especially if it had a section in it for Domain Management that could be translated to other campaigns.

They really ought to do a Spelljammer set of books as well to add in the stuff we all feel was left out of the original 5E release (such as a system for multi-ship combat, ala the War Captain's Companion. They could raid the likes of "Space Lairs" for the 50 adventure ideas.

We need Thay to show up in a setting book just to explain what's going on with Venger's hat. Or horn. Or whatever it is.
We kind of need a sister thread to this one: "What areas should Adventures in Faerun II: Elminster Boogaloo cover in detail?"

I've often stated that Cormyr should have gotten in-depth coverage in this book, as well as Thay. Let's hope it does well enough that we can get a sequel covering further areas of the setting nicely in-depth!

Expanding on Birthright:

DM Book
1) About 25 "big picture" adventures, covering the likes of Flood, Earthquake, Rebellion, Rampaging Beast and the like that would be things to handle at a domain level. About 25 "personal" quests - seeking an Artifact, dealing with a diplomat, investigating an ancient tomb, that sort of thing.
2) Overview of the various realms, with at least two fully fleshed out realms for PC use (say Roesone as a "traditional" realm, Binsada for something a bit more off-beat).
3) Extended rules for Domains, especially how to handle neighboring NPC realms
4) How to handle Bloodline abilities, Realm boons and Awnsheghlien
5) Awnsheghlien stat blocks and their various spawn/minions

Player Book
1) Bloodline subclasses for at least the main four (Cleric - Godtouched, Fighter - Blooded Warrior, Rogue - Bloodthief, Wizard - Realm Scion), Bloodline abilities, Backgrounds for rulers/leaders and advisory positions (Monarch, Prince(ss)-In-Waiting, Vizier, Chamberlain, Diplomat, Spy, Merchant, Guildmaster, Courtier, etc.)
2) Guide to the regions
3) Gods of Cerelia
4) Basic Domain rules for Domain play
5) Realm Magic
6) Politics and Factions

I am thinking to disconnect Eladrin from alignment. I would like to see Neutral Good Eladrin in urban magitech cultures populating Elysium. And so on.

The nongood planes seem to have different creature type tags (Devil, Demon Modron, Yugoloth, etcetera). But as far as I can tell in 5e, all the Good alignment planes have "Angels"? Does each Good alignment have a different kind of Angel? Is the Elf a kind of Angel? Is the playable version of a CG Angel the same thing as an Aasimar or an Elf?
