D&D 5E (2024) Ranged Builds Thread

IMO, if your within 30', your not really ranged. That's more like "long reach".
I agree, but Sharpshooter fixes that. By Fighter 6 you get both Crossbow Expertise and Sharpshooter.
Hand crossbows with Sharpshooter would quality. Or if you added Slow. Immobilize, or difficult terrain. Or if you kept your bonus action for disengage/dash. Really anything where they can't readily reach you on the next turn.
Rogue cunning action for dash/disengage can be used as needed, but it's not something you should need most every turn.

They're the best archer imho. Ive been looking at that plus vex with a shirtbow.

Hand crossbows as well I suppose. Take precise shot.
Precision will probably increase DPR the most, especially given how vex works. But you'll probably still be better off with the +damage maneuvers and a strong effect like menacing.

What subclass of Rogue do you all think for the Battlemaster / Rogue?

I'm thinking either Assassian for a bit extra combat goodies or Soulknife for the out of combat utility.

I'm not opposed to arcane trickster or thief either, but i don't see as strong of a case for either.

I was thinking precision+action surge to get vex going.

Elven accuracy.

Ive seen vex on champion fighters lvl 10 to get pain train rolling.

Whatever you prefer. Probably doesn't matter to much.

AT takes a while to get going. Thief depends on DM and magic items.
