D&D 5E (2024) [Eberron, 5th Edition] A comparison of the 2020 Tasha's Artificer to the 2025 Forge of the Artificer

Fashions are not tied to magic or technology level. People can dress how you like whenever you like.

Aside from Eberron, the other place you are likely to find a lot of artificers is Calimshan, where you can assume they wear fantasy-Persian outfits.
I was thinking specifically the Eberron artwork not artificers in general. In Calimshan you have both clockwork creations but also just pure magical item crafters with no tech like influences. Moonshae or Rahaman will use carved staffs, stone, earth or wooden golems, charms and trinkets.

Also don't forget your Tech priest of Gond, the tinker gnomes of Mount nevermind which are more of a medieval mad scientist. Izzet from Ravnica

Some critiques of your critiques:

The 2025 Artificer gets prestidigitation, which functionally replicates the old magical tinkering function. They have not lost that ability, it was just moved to a cantrip.

You said the 2025 Artificer lost spells like the Tasha’s Blade Cantrips and Intellect Fortress, but those are still selectable for the class in D&D Beyond.

The level 3 feature you said they lost the ability to make any tool they need for the situation. This isn’t true, it was moved to an Infusion (Manifold Tool).

Which is great for weapon using artillerists and battlesmiths.
Battle Smiths generally don't want to use it past 2rd level. They already get to make weapon attack with their caster stat, and True Strike is worse than making two attacks. The only use case is if you really need to deal Radiant damage.

Artillerists though, yeah totally. Grab a ranged weapon, make it a magic rune carved gun or bow that shoots spells with Arcane Firearm, steal flavor notes from Outlaw Star or your preferred superhero archer with trick arrows.
