D&D General My Review of the Forgotten Realms Ultimate Bundle (major spoiler alert)

Well sales tax or VAT or whatever it’s called locally is a pretty standard thing around the world. You’re going to pay that wherever the item came from. 7% is actually pretty darn low—VAT is about 20% here in the UK. Books are exempt though.
Though it is funny to see Albertans come here confused about the extra 7%. I agree it's not a big deal.

Ah, right. He’s in Canada? So reading that it’s not a new tariff or related to WotC books or a current trade war, it’s just Canada’s standard import duties.

So that is blanket 5% import duty on all items over $20, and he paid $30. So the two FR books retailed for … $600?

Something still doesn’t add up. Maybe he’s in one of those areas where it’s 13%? In which case the two books retailed for about $100. Better than $600 I suppose!
GST (Goods and Services Tax) is the Canadian federal sales tax. Most provinces also tack on a provincial sales tax. At the cashier, you are charged the sum of the two taxes, which is called the HST (H as in harmonized).

There are no tariffs, duties, etc. paid on books coming to Canada from the US. What @Henadic Theologian might have encountered are brokerage fees from the courier (Purolator/UPS/etc.). He might also be appending the sales tax to this number as well.

Maybe all I know is there was surprise $30 on top of what I payed to WotC, just for one of the books to be slightly damaged. Not bad enough to return, but still pissed about it.

Never physical books from these guys again.

Honestly I deserve it for buying American in the first place.

I thought sales taxes were payed when I bought the books online. I never had this issue before when buying from WotC before.

If you contact WotC about the damage, theybwill make it right.

Mackenzie De Aramas said ar HenCom the feedback on the lore wasn't negative, kt was the mechanics. The Dragon stuff fits better as Favrion rewards, anyways.

Paladins in the Core rules are not related to God's in amy way, so I don't see a serious point of confusion here.

Its because they never asked about the lore! You had to volunteer that information, but actually talking to people and reading comments online it was clear the lore was the big issue. They only ever ask about mechanics and they never bother to ask about the lore and when it comes with a major lore change, that is a problem, your feedback is only as good as your questions are.

And there is no way to get the Amthyest Dragon, they could have at least added it as an Epic Boon Amethyst Dragon Mount.

It’s really not. Those curses, false burial chambers and tombs in hidden valleys weren’t intended as foresighted deterrents for modern archaeologists.

Its weird in the sense of Tomb Raiding being traditionally punishable by death in Mulhorand, but I think there are ways to go about it where its more restoration of cultural heritage and knowledge as opposed to pillaging innocent peoples tombs.

From WotC end, free, not sure how Canada would tax a free replacement shipment.
I have had a damaged book in the past and there was no charge by WotC and the way they packaged it, no import duty, customs brokerage charge, etc. All of that was handled by the labeling from WotC.

That said, that was all before the recent trade "unfriendliness" between the two nations.

Cheers :)
