Tell your overdue Kickstarter story

Waiting on an overdue Kickstarter? Let us know in our survey!
FAILURE!.png

We're putting together a potential article on overdue (or failed!) crowdfunding projects.

So, tell us your story. Which crowdfunders are overdue, and by how much? What was the original estimated delivery date? We've set up a survey with which you can provide us information, and we'll be using that survey to put together an article in early 2026.

We have set a 1-year limit on this--to keep this down to a reasonable list, only crowdfunders which are a year or more overdue, please! That's a year or more past the estimated delivery date listed on the crowdfunding page.

Also, please note that this is for tabletop roleplaying game projects only.

Use the link below to fill out the short survey. It should only take a couple of minutes. Please note that if you include anything in the additional comments box, you may be quoted in the article.

Note--this thread was originally started in late 2024, but the survey has been created as of 20 December 2025 for an article due to be published in early 2026.

It’s actually fun to me when I back a Kickstarter and forget what tier I backed it at, so it’s a surprise when I receive my pledge and get to figure out what gift past me bought for me. I recently received my Dolmenwood pledge and beyond knowing I was getting the 3 books, had no clue what else I was getting. Early Christmas gift!
Same for me with Reaper 6. It took ages to deliver, but when it finally did, unpacking was super exciting. I had totally fogotten half of the contents!

I had a similar experience with Dolmenwood. Was expecting campaign, player, and monster book. I also got 4 adventure books (which have a great format and are easy to run), a map book, a cloth map of dolmenwood, and a dice bag. Nice to have something dedicated to holding my dice after decades of gaming.

Blood and Doom, supposed to be delivered by the end of 2023. There are still updates, but the last one pushed delivery to the end 2027 and the production team is down to 2-3 people. I have pretty much written it off, and if I get something down the road, it'll be a nice surprise.

I backed The Hero's Journey on Kickstarter by the couple who did a lot of fan stuff for 1st Edition Scion (Anne Ruthven of "John's Scion Resources"). The kickstarter was in 2014, I believe, and there has been nothing since then except photos of novels that were never shipped, pictures of dice we never got, boatloads of excuses, occasionally radio silence for years at a time, a website that was replaced with a new website that hasn't been updated in at least two years, and nothing else. Oh, and they "playtest" on Twitch with their friends. No offer of refunds, no updates since 2022, and no sign it's ever coming out.

Spidermind Games Dragoneye Dice.

They are selling the dice at retail, refusing to send the dice to backers, and the last update in June was that they would give vouchers for a free for all listing in some mythical website where you could get fist come first serve of whatever dregs they have left.

This was a million dollar KS.

These dudes should be in jail.

I guess dolmenwood is overdue since it was expected in, I think, March (this might have been when they were expecting to have delivery to their warehouse) but thanks to Trump's tariffs necrotic gnome had to delay a little while they sorted things out, but it should be sent out in a few weeks so nothing too major and I already have the PDFs so I can play it now if I wanted.

I've only supported a few kickstarters and most of them from people I trust (Kobold Press, MCDM, I think Penny Arcade) so I haven't had any issues. Even small OSR kickstarters came through without a hitch but they were only something like 20-30$ and I wasn't too worried if it disappeared into the ether.

I've just got my Dolmenwood hardbacks. I pre-ordered on their store rather than backing the KS, though. The books do exist so hopefully it's just shipping logistics etc. at this point. It's very good.

Be sure to fill out the survey form if you want me to include your story in the article, folks!
Would you like all of them? I only submitted my most egregious one, but i also backed two d20 Entertainment disasters, albeit not at a high level. It's Ken Whitman, so, frankly, it seems like low-hanging fruit.
