Tell your overdue Kickstarter story

Waiting on an overdue Kickstarter? Let us know in our survey!
FAILURE!.png

We're putting together a potential article on overdue (or failed!) crowdfunding projects.

So, tell us your story. Which crowdfunders are overdue, and by how much? What was the original estimated delivery date? We've set up a survey with which you can provide us information, and we'll be using that survey to put together an article in early 2026.

We have set a 1-year limit on this--to keep this down to a reasonable list, only crowdfunders which are a year or more overdue, please! That's a year or more past the estimated delivery date listed on the crowdfunding page.

Also, please note that this is for tabletop roleplaying game projects only.

Use the link below to fill out the short survey. It should only take a couple of minutes. Please note that if you include anything in the additional comments box, you may be quoted in the article.

Note--this thread was originally started in late 2024, but the survey has been created as of 20 December 2025 for an article due to be published in early 2026.

Timothy Kleinert's second edition of The Mountain Witch. Estimated delivery of 2018, last update in January 2019. The original delays were caused by a major project at Kleinert's day job, but there's been radio silence since the January 2019 update, despite it promising monthly updates.
This has been picked up by Central Michigan University Press. You were able to get it in a fully complete version for $6 when this project started if you can prove that you backed the Kickstarter. Check out this link, as you may be able to get it still: Contact the Art & System: Games for Expanded Play team on BackerKit

I choose my TTRPG KS's carefully these days. It either has to be something I really want, something exclusive, or a remake of something from my youth. I've never had a KS extremely overdue or go unfulfilled. By the nature of the website and process, you're usually looking at 1-2 years minimum before it reaches your doorstep. I understand the world has changed for a number of reasons in the last 6-7 years, so I know why content creators go the Kickstarter route, but I'd like to see more straight to market products. I believe the Nimble TTRPG bestiary will be on Backerkit sooner than later which I'm looking to back. So statistically speaking I never had a Kickstarter late enough to be mad or go unfulfilled.

Darkest Dungeon Board Game.....Send us more money or we won't ship it to you. Can I have a refund instead? NO!
This one must have really hurt backers. To add insult to injury, people like me were able to buy the game and all released extra stuff for relatively cheap from local shops for a fraction of the price that the backers paid.

I got the game plus the big box of stuff for 200$ CAD.

And it’s a fantastic game, one of my all time favourite board games ever.

So just wait for it to hit the shelves and then buy it. Does it matter what happened in the year or two before that? Just ignore the Kickstarter part.

Correct, usually. Is that always true? As I understand things sometimes if you don't back it its gone, only 1 print run? Am I wrong?

If you want to get Kickstarter exclusives – things that never make it to retail - then you back the KS and hope, or not back the KS and hope another way. I go for option 2. A few years down the line will really test if I actually wanted it.
