Tell your overdue Kickstarter story

Waiting on an overdue Kickstarter? Let us know in our survey!
FAILURE!.png

We're putting together a potential article on overdue (or failed!) crowdfunding projects.

So, tell us your story. Which crowdfunders are overdue, and by how much? What was the original estimated delivery date? We've set up a survey with which you can provide us information, and we'll be using that survey to put together an article in early 2026.

We have set a 1-year limit on this--to keep this down to a reasonable list, only crowdfunders which are a year or more overdue, please! That's a year or more past the estimated delivery date listed on the crowdfunding page.

Also, please note that this is for tabletop roleplaying game projects only.

Use the link below to fill out the short survey. It should only take a couple of minutes. Please note that if you include anything in the additional comments box, you may be quoted in the article.

Note--this thread was originally started in late 2024, but the survey has been created as of 20 December 2025 for an article due to be published in early 2026.

I have two very late rpg's... And a bunch of others in other categories as well, such as comics and boardgames. Some are officially dead. I have even gotten money back from one of them. And I still want a checkbox on kickstarter to mark a project as dead, as compared to the ones that maybe will come something some day. Yes, I have proposed it to kickstarter.

Iron Sky the roleplaying game.
A project that has been frought with legal problems regarding the IP, according to the creator's claims. Don't think anyone of the backers have followed up on it though. At least there has been infrequent updates, even if most were "I can't say or do anything on the project due to legal things regarding the IP". And now it has been rendered into a "legally distinct" other entity with similiar feel.

Was supposed to have been delivered in february 2018. Do I expect to play it? Propably not, unless it really wows me with the presentation. And what we have seen of the system, well it is overcomplicated just to be different. I mean why use a D1000?

Into the Shadows
A Fate version of Call of Cthulhu. I like Fate and I like Call of Cthulhu. I backed for a physical book. Was supposed to have been delivered in 2014. The PDF is available at drivethroughrpg. Last update was almost 2 years ago now, and it stated that the pdf was released. More info would come regarding the physical books.

I filled out the survey six times. I probably could do more, but I restricted myself to the Kickstarters are most closely related to TTRPGs (plus it's hard to go through them all when there's 18 pages of Kickstarters).

As I understand it, original EU backers of Fantasy Series 1 got their miniatures. US backers did not, because apparently BLG ran out of money for shipping so they got stuck in fulfillment limbo where they kept accruing storage debt in the warehouse and the backers eventually had to pay the warehouse to ship them out. Those of us who got FS1 as part of the Lasting Tales/FS2 kickstarter never saw anything from BLG at all.

Fantasy Series 1 and 2 got sold to Wildspire Miniatures, who provided backers with STLs for free and minis for ~$50 each. These minis are currently being delivered – I recently got notification that my package was en route from the EU hub.
Somehow, I got my Fantasy 1 miniatures. Original backer in the U.S.

I came very close to backing that, having adored the stories it's based on, but the feature creep on that was unreal and I got cold feet at the last minute.

At this point, I'm watching it like a pile-up on the side of the road. It's a little shocking how much of it is still undone, given that the source material is very simple and delivering the core product (S&W settings and adventures based on a handful of short stories) seems like it could be done much faster than it has been.

I do hope you get it. If it turns out well, I look forward to giving them my money, but very glad to have not paid up-front.
This project is still not released. I have it on my Kickstarter saved list, and pop in periodically to shake my head in wonder.

Black God's Kiss is an excellent story, by the way, and is widely available, including in the big Appendix N paperback, I believe.

Relic by the now-defunct Bandit Camp is a failed Kickstarter; its creator has left the gaming space after some personal issues. Urban Shadows 2e is finally being delivered, but 3-4 years late, with the people who pledged for the limited edition getting hurt the worst by delays.

The one I'm most upset by is Project: Dark by Will Hindmarch, mainly because it looks like Hindmarch took the money and ran despite the fact that he's continued to work in TTRPGs.

Ah, yes. I've worked with Will. Basically the poster child for industry privilege.

Sorry for your disappointment; FWIW, you're in good (and innumerable) company.

Digital version allegedly fulfilled in late 2023, but after 12 years, many backers had already jumped ship by then.
Look. This thing has enough baggage without this kinda dishonesty.
Digital and physical arrived. Distribution too.

12 years ago it was Kickstarter, not a glorified preorder system and all the intellectual dishonesty around this is childish.
