Tell your overdue Kickstarter story

Waiting on an overdue Kickstarter? Let us know in our survey!

We're putting together a potential article on overdue (or failed!) crowdfunding projects.

So, tell us your story. Which crowdfunders are overdue, and by how much? What was the original estimated delivery date? We've set up a survey with which you can provide us information, and we'll be using that survey to put together an article in early 2026.

We have set a 1-year limit on this--to keep this down to a reasonable list, only crowdfunders which are a year or more overdue, please! That's a year or more past the estimated delivery date listed on the crowdfunding page.

Also, please note that this is for tabletop roleplaying game projects only.

Use the link below to fill out the short survey. It should only take a couple of minutes. Please note that if you include anything in the additional comments box, you may be quoted in the article.

Note--this thread was originally started in late 2024, but the survey has been created as of 20 December 2025 for an article due to be published in early 2026.

Relic by the now-defunct Bandit Camp is a failed Kickstarter; its creator has left the gaming space after some personal issues. Urban Shadows 2e is finally being delivered, but 3-4 years late, with the people who pledged for the limited edition getting hurt the worst by delays.

The one I'm most upset by is Project: Dark by Will Hindmarch, mainly because it looks like Hindmarch took the money and ran despite the fact that he's continued to work in TTRPGs.
Yeah, that some people continue to work in the industry after a crowdfunding scam is despicable.
The sad part is that I can think of a creator that literally DIED (the late Stewart Wieck) who's projects still got completed, although understandably late.
I hope Morrus shows no mercy and exposes people who have earned it!!

You know, I’ve had really good history with Kickstarter. None of the ones I have backed have failed.

I considered using Kickstarter for a few projects, and then shrugged and went, “why not make the thing on my own time, and just… publish it?” I get that Kickstarter is more of a marketing platform now, like patron, but I never got a feel for it.

Often its done for one of two purposes:

1. Prepaying for ancillery costs, such as when you actually want art that isn't something like public domain art, or to have editors and/or layout artists do their magic with it;

2. Prejudging demand so you know whether anyone is going to be interested enough that its not just a vanity project.

3. It’s the best marketing platform on the internet.

You will make more money Kickstarting it then releasing it than you will just releasing it. These days it doesn’t make sense not to.
