They listened to fans, and there will be no concept art from generative AI.

So it looks like they will be using AI to quickly iterate to try things out and refine ideas, and if they use generative AI for art it will be trained only on assets they own.

I know there's been a lot of talk about what the studio that made Baldur's Gate 3 will do next, what do you think of this?

It still will reduce headcount in the long run.
And that's a bad thing? The issue with these kinds of AAA games is that it requires massive amounts of investments, one bad game tends to be the end of a studio and Larian has escaped bankruptcy WAY more then is statistically sane...

Less headcount would mean less investment => risk, and if something doesn't work out, they might improve the chances of surviving. OR it doesn't mean less headcount, it just means that they get more into the game before they launch. Larian is famous of scope creep tsunami!

Let's see what the next Larian game brings, most current Larian 'fans' weren't before BG3, or Original Sin...

Swen has specifically said it's a bad thing, so it seems very strange for him to be aiming for that.

Yeah, because honestly Larian made pretty bad games - I know because I played them - frankly DOS1/2 are themselves ludicrously overrated. What's your point? You seem to be engaging in some kind of arcane gatekeeping triangulation here, where you have to be a fan of a company when they make rubbish games in order to properly critique them in future?

I think we're going to see a game that is, in most ways other than graphics, much worse than BG3, and I don't think it'll be because of AI, that's just a symptom of general Swen brain issues - I'd say brainrot but he's always been like this, it's not new or getting worse.

I think, simply, they do not frickin get it.

Any use of generative ai is an automatic F, 0/100, i will not even consider ever giving them money for anything related to that game.

I am far from unique in this.

The objection isnt just to see ai generated assets in the game, or ai concept art, it is ghe actual use of generative ai in the first place.

Generative AI is a tool that will be in the future. Your thought, while valid, isn't sustainable. It will be used more and more, and not just in software.

This isn't pro-AI, it's acceptance that it's not going away. Look at how corporations (and governments) are accepting and pushing it -- it will have the financial push to become part of the world.

Early automobiles could break people's arms when you crank started them. I am sure many railed against the loud, smoke-spewing menaces. Still, they were here to stay.
