I'm using a jury-rigged phonetic representation. I assure you that I am employing one of the two embattled pronunciations.

The counties of Devon and Cornwall organised a huge music festival with tribute bands of both The Jam and Cream.
The festival was called off due to the two counties not being able to agree which should go on first.

<throws a bag of American potato chips into the thread, watches the Brits take 1d4 psychic damage>
It’s worse being somewhere like NZ or Canada which uses British words for several things but then calls crisps chips.

(NZ and Australia then call chips hot chips, which makes no damn sense, especially given the importance of a fish supper in both countries.)

Listen... do the Brits mind if I post in this thread? Both @Morrus and @Waller have gone out of their way to make me feel unwelcome here. The only reason I posted in the first place is because the thread was created, no one responded, and it was getting close to drifting onto the second page. I thought the thread was a nice idea, so I bumped it.

I have zero UK ancestry. My only connection to this part of the world is, as I said, my MIL. I am not a victim of anglophilia, I couldn't care less. But I enjoy good conversations, and learning new things about people. Literally the only reasons I posted anything beyond the first post.

If this thread is just about being clubby, I'll go find something else to do.
