He doesn't even have to be a god; I'd leave that up to the DM. It could just be some sort of arcane cult or staffed by ur-priests or something. The dude in question doesn't even have to be involved, or even alive.

I've always wanted Karsus to come back, the various relics/remains in the Dire Wood to be somehow cleansed setting him free. Whether he's mellowed and is just another archmage, or now unable to use magic, or even an ascended god; I think it'd be cool to have him return. I'm unsure if Shadow (Telemont?) ever tried to revive his old friend, but I think it would have been cool.

PCs have been meeting him since lvl 1. Last seen blowing up a goblin fort with spellfire.
