Yes, 'The Algorithm' REALLY IS Like That

When you see it with news outlet headlines, they are 100% aping the New York Times.
I do it and I’m pretty sure I’m not aping the NYT. It’s not even a publication I’m particularly familiar with other than having heard the name before.

I was taught about title case and sentence case in school. At the time most British publications used title case. It’s only in the last 10 years or so many of them have shifted to using sentence case in headlines.

The Times (not the New York Times, the original Times which predates the NYT by a hundred years) used title case but dropped it about 20 years ago I think? Maybe earlier.

Looking it up it looks like the New York Times is one of the last holdouts.

So I’m afraid I have to reject the idea that I (and others) are aping the NYT. It was pretty much the standard until (relatively) recently and many people who still use title case do so because they grew up with it.

I still put two spaces after periods and colons, so who am I to complain about title case?
as long as i can read something i don't sweat it. I mean just look at how i type here. the only times i pay close attention is when i'm working on my book or making an actual formal request for something like information or a suggestion. otherwise,it's all copy and paste or short typo filled postings lol.
