Free League Publishing is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its dark fantasy RPG Symbaroum with a new Kickstarter that offers a reorganized core rulebook set plus a brand new campaign setting. Launching on May 19th, the Symbaroum Anniversary Kickstarter will feature two products - revised core rulebooks that organizes the original rulebooks into three books, plus the brand new City States of Vendilyn – A Ravaged Realm book.

Symbaroum is a dark fantasy RPG with an emphasis on gritty and deadly gameplay. The core mechanic uses a D20 roll under system, with additional modular rules that allows players to customize their game easily. A 5E variant of the game was also released.

The full description of the books being offered for the Kickstarter are below:

  • Core Rulebook: Provides everything needed to bring Symbaroum to the table, including a tutorial adventure, guidelines for creating homebrew scenarios, and an introduction to the dark and foreboding Davokar region.
  • Gamemaster’s Guide: Offers advanced guidance for running Symbaroum, including support for campaign building, adventure creation, and optional rules for large-scale battles, advanced traps, and social scheming.
  • Davokar Creature Codex: A detailed bestiary presenting the monsters and people players will encounter on their travels, featuring updated practical stat blocks while building on the legacy of the award-winning Monster Codex.
  • City States of Vendilyn – A Ravaged Realm: A full-color hardcover volume introducing the City States of Vendilyn as a campaign setting where survivors struggle to endure after the once-peaceful realm was devastated by the malevolent elves of Duskwood.

Reading the description on Kickstarter it looks like the new set features a different location in the same world. So my guess is the original stuff may stay available but the default start location for the game is moving.

I'm skeptical. The setting is AAA, but the system is so easily broken and needs not just repackaging, but also a pretty extensive review and it doesn't sound like the latter is happening.
