Sources for the gods of the Giants

At the Creature Catalog forums, we are working on converting gods of nonhuman races to Complete Divine format. (go here) I am looking for sources of information about these particular gods. Keep track of the thread title as it will change from time to time, and you can read the last threads to see what we are currently looking for. If you find a source after we finish working on a particular god, don’t worry: I can always go back and edit what I have.

Here is how I would define a “source”:
Simply stating “Bobo is a cleric of Gruumsh” does not provide any useful information. If we had “Bobo is a high muckety-muck in bloody red robes” or “Bobo runs the temple with his three blind acolytes” those actually contain information that might be useful.

A useful source would include: a diagram or description of a temple; mention or listing of a hierarchy or clergy titles; notes or depictions or prayers, rituals, dogma, or religious dress; history of the god or religion; or just anything with a table or list featuring that god and others. If you could list a book title, along with the kinds of things I could expect to find in there, that would be helpful.

or even the free 2edADnD Legends & Lore download available on WotC: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/LegendsAndLore.rtf

example from there: Surtr is both the lord and deity of the fire giants. He can control any fire in Midgard. Surtr resembles an immense fire giant, with crackling flames for hair and eyebrows.
Like all giants, Surtr hates the Aesir and is anxiously awaiting Ragnarok. He will lend his aid to any plan that troubles the Aesir

About the only thing along this line I know of is the 2e book Monster Mythology. It lists pantheons for most of the intelligent monster races and such. There's not a lot of flavor in it, just a description of the god, what priest spheres priests get, and avatar stats. Demihuman and humanoid gods tend to be more heavily defined, as well as some of the major monster gods.

edit: The format is similar to Legends and Lore that diaglo mentioned. So if you take a look at the .rtf, that'll give you a good idea as to what you can expect from it, if you don't have the book.

The Planscape book On Hallowed Ground talks about a bunch of gods, but there really isn't any hard information. It's really more about how the gods act on a planar level (in Planescape anyway), how they interact with each other and so on. Probably not a lot of information here that's useful, though the back of the book has a list of gods that appeared in sources like the old Deities and Demigods, Legends and Lore, Monster Mythology, and campaign-specific sources.

First Post
- 2e Monster Mythology (the best source you'll get) - deity description, avatar, portfolio, symbol description (no pic), spec. priests
- 2e Giantcraft (FR accessory) - same thing, with a bit more background info on the deity (some FR specific, some not)
- 2e On Hallowed Ground (PS accessory) - Plane/Layer/Realm location, portfolio, interaction with other deities

ahhh, hmmm.... i *totally* meant to post this immediately after that first post, but... i forgot. good thing i kept MS Word open. ;)

Our first set of gods that we are working on is the giantish gods. For now that includes Annam, Diancastra, Grolantor, Hiatea, Ilallanis, Karontor, Memnor, Stronmaus, and Skoraeus Stonebones.

All of these gods had full writeups in the second edition book Monstrous Mythology, and all were listed (and some described) in the Planescape book On Hallowed Ground. Most of them had a brief description in Defenders of the Faith, and the same gods were listed on a table in the back of the Complete Divine. Grolantor and Skoraeus appeared in the first edition Deities and Demigods.

Any other sources you can think of would be great. :)

If I had remembered that, your posts would have all been rather different, as I should have told you that I am already aware of some of those sources. :D so, responding to what remains:

does that book describe any of the gods I mentioned above? If so great! I don’t have it available at the moment.
