D&D 5E PotA: Earth Cultists wouldn't mine the earth. Alternatives?

Cool. Just need to imagine a role for slaves.

D&D 5E PotA: Earth Cultists wouldn't mine the earth. Alternatives?

Ogrémoch hates mining, since any fruits in the crust of the earth are his. The only alternative that's come to mind is some sort of slave plantation, on an expansive plateau with well-protected entrances. Ideas? Edit: after LMoP, everybody's tired of mines and this mine map is pretty weak

D&D 5E Is One Year Old!

Best edition yet, and I'm happy to see the back of the edition wars.

PRINCES OF THE APOCALYPSE For Fantasy Grounds VTT

Holy crap, I hadn't thought of buying it strictly as a DM aid. Wham, sold. This is the future of module publishing.

And then there were 8! On Chris Sims and Jennifer Clarke Wilkes' Layoffs...

What on earth is going on?!? It doesn't making sense. After the blockbuster release of the PHB you'd think Wizards would be growing, not shrinking. Is Hasbro not investing Wizards' sales profits back into Wizards? It feels like D&D is being ripped off. Do we need to pull a Michael Moore and...

D&D 5E Value of 1 lb. of mithral?

Steel's made into ingots for further processing too. Try a Google image search for "stainless steel ingot."

D&D 5E Value of 1 lb. of mithral?

An ingot isn't only used as currency (see wikipedia: ingot). Ingots are the base form into which metal is first smelted, and they're expected to have a minimum purity and a particular weight. Ingots made with more exotic metals can be currency as well. That would blow the previous D&D values...

D&D 5E Value of 1 lb. of mithral?

Smoke breaks is a great idea! But they have no access to herbs. They will take breaks, though, just like they did in life. Thanks :P I'm pushing the notion that skeletons mime all aspects of their former lives, from work, through social, dining, pub going, sleep, sex. It's all an eerie...

D&D 5E Value of 1 lb. of mithral?

Good idea! In my scenario the Phandelver mine's been running for hundreds of years with skeletal miners. I did the math using the 1e DMG mining table and even if there's just a trace of mithral in the host rock (0.001% if memory serves) it works out to a 60' cube stack of smelted mithral after...

D&D 5E Ideas for an evil force trapped in rock

The last session ended with the party 6 miles underground at the earth's mantle, where skeletons have almost finished excavating the Pit Fiend skeleton and his iron crown. I still have time to incorporate the Enworld braintrust and improve this hell-forged crown. I'm not happy with the finished...

D&D 5E Value of 1 lb. of mithral?

Well, there's always 3.5e: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/specialMaterials.htm#mithral Type of Mithral Item Item Cost Modifier Light armour +1,000gp Medium armour +4,000pg Heavy armour +9,000gp Shield +1,000pg Other item +500gp/lb I'd add some expense for the difficulty...

D&D 5E Do Beholders need sleep?

Well I'll be damned. I didn't bother to look it up since it's not the sort of thing one sees described in a monster entry! Question answered!

    It's just lightweight steel, imho.

D&D 5E Value of 1 lb. of mithral?

Sage advice. The 1,200gp per 20 lb ingot is fine with me, even it it's at the low end of the scale. Mithril's more common in my world then. Done! Love your avatar :D
