Jonathan Tweet took the general idea with him to WoTC when he worked on 3e (with Monte Cook and Skip Williams). The d10 became d20 etc. etc. etc.

I've noticed that "obliged" has been killed and had its stuff taken by "obligated" for no good reason other than language changes - but I had to say something when I hears someome talk about a king being "coronated" - as a verb not adjective.
In my experience, D&D is traditionally played in groups, at one of the players' home.
Most weeks of the year, the group around theirs or at mine. One or two days a year in groups at a con.
And for the British now "corned beef" usually refers to what is elsewhere referred to as bully beef. Corned beef and cabage is unknown here AFAICT. Here's a very British corned beef recipe: Corned beef hash with baked beans. So - do dwarves or gnomes have tinned/canned food for iron rations?

You know that bint is derogatory and marginally offensive in British English? It's not a word that I would use in front of my grandma if she were alive. It's from the generation of slang coming from soldiers. In this case, those stationed in the Middle East. So, a bit like some racial epithets...
Are you sure you want to say that in public?
Apologies. I see that I skipped the second para to get to the Design Notes. My bad etc. Thank you to both of you for your kind words and atention. Much appreciated by this regular and loyal reader of your works. TTFN.
I think I did! That image isn't in the article. Did you read the edited version? The 1 is meant to be the explanation? Or hint?
