Goodman Games: Our Efforts Have Been Mischaracterized

I think by his own admittance that he can not guarantee this, so yes, it’s a “trust me” situation but given he had an option not to do this at all, I don’t see why anyone needs take his word on it.

No Initiative Order: How Do You Do It?

We recently played a Dungeon World game where we decided that to make sure one particular player wasn’t stepping on others’ toes, or taking over the game, and we just did a special token with two colors. You flipped it from green to red when you took your turn, but anyone could go in any order...

Goodman Games: Our Efforts Have Been Mischaracterized

It definitely read to me as a CYA crisis management response. This is where I really like Mike Shea’s perspective on judging what TTRPG companies promise vs what they do - his “lit candles” analogy. Goodman broke a promise not to work with JG that they made several years ago. They’ve made a lot...

Goodman Games: Our Efforts Have Been Mischaracterized

The way I see it, I can’t do anything about what other people do with their money. All I can do is voice my opinion about how I wish to spend mine. Joseph Goodman could’ve said absolutely nothing and simply let the backers do their thing, but he felt the need to address the problem. Thing is...

Goodman Games: Our Efforts Have Been Mischaracterized

Now I’m curious - Goodman had said previously that the money was going to be held in escrow to repay the previous KS backers, but at a certain point, profits would have to be paid to Judges Guild if the game was successful enough. Can we determine what point that is on the amount the kickstarter...

Goodman Games: Our Efforts Have Been Mischaracterized

Given that his “partner” (and I say partner because despite all precautions, he had to make this arrangement with them to start the project and money can still end up in JG’s pockets before all is said and done) in this has made public comments continuing their tirade, it should’ve given Goodman...

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

It must be frustrating working with someone who makes erroneous, irrational, and inflammatory statements but it’s a situation that he helped create. Still can’t imagine how Joseph Goodman is going to continue to walk this tightrope.

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

I think (hope) they’re smart enough to realize that one OAR product is not worth all of this hassle and they throw the whole idea in the bin. Bledsaw just gave them a perfect opportunity. It’s tough to disassociate this product now from him, regardless of what Goodman said previously.

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

The problem with that is if you suddenly pivot to serving a target market that isn’t in line with who you’ve served previously, you risk alienating your existing customers, and maybe also losing your new customers once this product is done. If people are buying your product because they want to...

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

I’ve been a fan of Goodman Games OAR products for a long time but there’s simply no way I’d buy this. I get that Joseph Goodman really wanted to see this product come to market but he now has the license holder effectively sabotaging all of the work that Goodman has done to try to assuage people...
