UA Monks Introduces the Kensai and Tranquility Traditions

I actually really like the Tranquility monk. It probably needs a few tweaks in general, but I have one main complaint: Compared to almost any other class or path, it's crazy MAD (Multiple Ability Dependent). This was common for Monks in PF or 3.x, but not typically in 5e. You'd need DEX, WIS...

UA Monks Introduces the Kensai and Tranquility Traditions

Plus, and I feel this is key: it's a full action for the Monk and only a bonus action for the Paladin. Sure, you can use it with Flurry, but you still lose an attack. Paladin can Lay on Hands and still make all attacks. I'm sure the pool recharges with a long rest, but it doesn't actually say...

Trapdoor Tech's Official Pathfinder Mobile Application

We're back to these guys again? They've got a bead on a product that nobody wants. Why does this keep getting pushed?

What Will Become of the FLGS?

I have a friend with partial ownership in a game store, and he says card games hurt game stores, too, but mainly for financial reasons. Around here (Indy), competing stores have actually pushed M:tG to the point where they're all selling it at a loss. My friend's store refuses to stock it for...

You know, I've been wondering what Duncan Macleod has been doing since that last movie. Now I know.

Which Games Were Most Played On FANTASY GROUNDS In 2015? (Hint: D&D!)

I use it mostly as a DM reference. For that alone it's worth the money. We use almost exclusively non-grid combat, but for exploration and describing dungeons, I use an HDMI cable and a large TV to show their exploration progress. It's so much smoother than mapping it on paper.

Which Games Were Most Played On FANTASY GROUNDS In 2015? (Hint: D&D!)

I don't think it's just the licensing that's granted an insane boost. It's the fact that they have worked hard to completely port the official WoTC modules into Fantasy Grounds. It lightens the workload for DMs exponentially. For most (myself included) that's even worth the hefty price. I don't...

D&D 5E Is it possible to have a good-aligned final boss in a good campaign?

See the most recent story arc in The Order of the Stick for a good example. You have multiple Good DEITIES wanting to destroy the entire world, because they fear that by not destroying it, there may be a multiverse-consuming evil able to be free. By destroying the universe and recreating it...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Another New Ranger Variant

My first impression is that the 2d6 HD seems high too, but then I considered something else: Both the Ranger and the Barbarian have the high hit dice and base Light Armor Proficiency, but the Barbarian is going to have a substantially higher AC. I'm ok with the 2d6 to mitigate this.

Trapdoor Tech is Back With A Pathfinder iOS Application!

Trapdoor Tech is back with an unfinished product that nobody asked for and which works worse than already existing products.

Character Narratives Preview from PRIMEVAL THULE

1/encounter abilities? I thought that went the way of the dodo with 4th edition. 1/short rest seems to be the more recent mechanic.

    Making A Custom Gaming Table

It appears that the TV is a couple of inches below the glass on which the minis are sitting. This probably mitigates the heat problem.

D&D 5E Why is Hoard of the Dragon Queen such a bad adventure?

Hi, all. I'm new here. I'm about to run Hoard of the Dragon Queen starting this weekend, and I'm a relatively inexperienced DM. As I was re-reading the first section, I had a crazy idea that I wanted more input on: Is the encounter with the Blue Dragon necessary in any way? From my reading...
