    WotC Responds!!!

[/b] Yep. This is where I think you are incorrect. d20 products are also OGL products, that's why d20 publishers have to waste a page on the OGL license. Yes, this seems to be a possible loophole, except for one thing: d20 products are also OGL products. AFAIK, the d20 license can't...

    WotC Responds!!!

I think you are incorrect about how the d20 license works. D20 books have to follow the rules for the OGL as well. And on top of that, the d20 license explicity forbids using these trademarks, and makes no mention of the option of getting permission from WOTC, so it's even more strict...

    WotC Responds!!!

Re: Re: Re: Irrespective of my own opinion... You can if you get permission from WOTC.

    WotC Responds!!!

The press release used WOTC's trademark "Dungeons and Dragons". WOTC can defend its trademarks. AV didn't have to use their trademark. He chose to, and opened himself up to a response from WOTC. This is probably why the OGL requires permission to use trademarks in advertising, and is an...

    WotC Responds!!!

Someone already made the comparison in the other thread. Something like "at least it's not as bad as FATAL".

Only as a business manager, as far as I know. Has he actually done any game design? (Not on topic, I know, just curious) Monte and Sean never did anything that was a conflict of interest while employed at WOTC. I would say this qualifies as a conflict of interest, especially seeing WOTC's...

Fantasy Sex Roleplaying Game Releases October 2003

The press release doesn't say that it was "satanic", or even say "cult", but does leave a lot to the imagination as to how these "experiences have guided him in the creation of this product". "Anthony Valterra helped found a fetish club (Oregon Guild Activists of S/M) and an occult church...

Fantasy Sex Roleplaying Game Releases October 2003

Ok, it's clear that WOTC and Hasbro want nothing to do with it, at least in hindsight. I say Hasbro as well because one of gamingreport's comments on the WOTC response mentions: "Re: WotC's Response to the Book of Erotic Fantasy (Score: 1) by Realmprotector (realmprotector@gamingreport.com)...

Fantasy Sex Roleplaying Game Releases October 2003

That remains to be seen. To say that an OGL product is "compatible with Dungeons and Dragons" means that someone at WOTC has to approve that use of trademark in their marketing. A.V. is the guy that publishers contact to do the approving, so obviously approving it himself would be a conflict...

    FastForwardGames & Reviews: The Confrontation

Re: gotcha! It does seem like he's trying to be controversial, particularly by his subtle references to ENWorld reviewers, just for the web site hits it generates. I had never been to his site before I saw it on the front news page. Free advertising.

You could be right. I suspect though that it's not as much of a business decision as it is that he just really wants to create this type of product. We'll probably never really know for sure what his motivations are. I haven't, so I do need to ask. I'm ignorant about these religions, as I...

Fantasy Sex Roleplaying Game Releases October 2003

I find it difficult to comment on a product that is not family friendly in a family friendly manner, especially since I would personally prefer our hobby to be thought of as family friendly. Difficult, but not impossible, and I hope others can keep it clean too. During the interview, can you...
