Sounds like you you have an overall plot idea in mind. That's good. Assuming you are starting at 1st level, then start small. Go for one of the classics. Goblins raiding trade caravans, local businessman's daughter kidnapped by bandits, someone wants escortin gto the next town through bandit...
thanks for the thoughts. I particularly like the idea of using a mini aquarium. Hmm, may put the players in diving helmets and make them hold their breath while it is their turn.
I'm planning an encounter which will take place underwater. The basic setup is the players are in a flooding Dungeon and have to swim out, fighting off some monsters and breaking down some doors to escape.
I have considered a skill challenge approach, but i really want to let the players...
Thanks for the replies. I'm surprised at how liberal most of those answers are. To push the envelope to absurdium...
The wall is 200 feet high. I shift one, instantly fall 200 feet (taking 20-3 = 17d10 falling damage, which at mid-paragon i should survive), land on my feet(thanks to the...
I play a druid who has taken the feat which allows him to change into beast form as a free action, and when he does so i shift 4 spaces. I also wear a Safewing Amulet (ignore first 30 feet of falling damage and always land on my feet).
My question is this. I am standing on top of a 20 foot...
I've read and re-read that section of the DMG and never noticed before the bit about moving on. The d10 a level now makes a lot more sense in that context.
Maybe, but the same pc picked up Boots of Spiderclimb (Lvl 5) at 1st level, and at level 13 he still wears them. Should an artefact really be disposable after 4 levels?
My pc acquired an artefact a few levels ago. There are +1 and -1 modifiers to the concordance available for fighting or not fighting specific creature types. These are however totally dwarfed by the d10 points i get for levelling up.
After 3 or 4 levels i was at maximum concordance and if i...
I'm mulling over an idea for a low paragon / high heroic tier solo monster. My general idea is that it would be something akin to a purple worm, or a long thin dragon, but rather than being a 2x2 or 3x3 square creature, it would be represented by perhaps 6 squares in a line. This would allow...
With my player hat on, playing D&D is supposed to be fun. If its not fun, then why play?
That does not mean that i expect to awe the table every time my turn comes around, nor that i should be immune to nasty status conditions.
My personal concern lies in two areas.
1)A single pc being...
This is the clearest consensus i have ever seen in one of these threads, so you guys must be getting your info from somewhere. But for the life of me i can't see anything under shift that says it doesn't work when prone, and nothing under prone that says shifting isn't allowed.
Could...
I am trying to get my head round how this should work.
As per PHB if i am prone i can take a move action and move up to half my speed.
Alternatively shift is a valid move action where i simply move to an adjacent space without provoking opportunity attacks.
Both of these appear in the...
Following yesterday's play test session...
We wanted to try out cloaks, so had the standard two Federation ships facing off against two Spartan destroyers, and three scouts that could cloak. In the first fight the Spartans used their cloaks to get close without being shot, but after that they...
Russ,
Following our latest playtest you have covered most of the stuff that came up, and i generally like the suggestions. It certainly played a lot quicker with the revised ship cards, and the new shields were a much better mechanic, although from the Bridge they didn't seem to be stopping...
