    Immediate actions...

Stream: I never once said that I was going to strip someone of a class feature because they couldn't describe the physics to me properly. Not once. I haven't ever, nor would I ever. I can't necessarily explain the why behind every feat either, but this isn't part of the discussion though. We...

    Immediate actions...

Bah, spent half an hour replying to this and wasn't logged in. MEH! Let me try this again: I had misread the original poster. It was my mistake and I am very very wrong heh. the problem (as I was seeing it) was the player was trying to argue that AC would help after determining damage...

    Immediate actions...

Okay, I had misread the issue from the original poster. I don't know where I got this, but I had thought that he had said that he was using it after damage had been rolled, and then deciding to activate it, which changes a lot of my original post because of my own stupidity ;) I'll post more...

    Immediate actions...

And you're absolutely correct. but if there is a grey area inside of the rules, sometimes bringing those same rules to a different subject helps. My point inside of the analogy was that (inside of the given example of Protection Devotion) putting on more bulletproof armor (and this is...

    Immediate actions...

Maybe I was being unclear (or maybe I'm just missing a joke here), but my answer was basically supporting what you had said earlier. It's just that Immediate actions could buff the AC before damage was rolled, but not after. I would even say that it would have to be before a roll to hit, but...

    Immediate actions...

One very good way of explaining this to a player is by asking him to justify his actions with real world examples. Obviously, you're dealing with the physics of magic so this rule can really only carry so far, but if you are dealing with a fairly intelligent, fairly rational person, you can...

Curiosity about Swashbucklers for a 1-off.

There's some really good ideas in this thread, I can't believe I had missed Daring Outlaw. I'm definitely going to have to get that feat and switch out for Combat Acrobat for that instead. Huge bonus' to sneak attack and such. I didn't really want to dip into another class, as I can see...

Curiosity about Swashbucklers for a 1-off.

I had considered a few different prestige classes, but most were based on mobility. Honestly, while I don't mind playing a PrC, I'd rather get ALL of the benefits of a 17th level <insert class here>, it tends to be pretty powerful on it's own.

Greater Truedeath Crystal = circumvents that.

new to DM-ing, help with incapacitating a Bronze Dragon in alternate form

I'd say create a spell or stick to a series of unfortunate events leading up to the memory loss. You could say that someone was plotting this attack, knew how and when to attack the dragon and when he would be in elf form. If they had been spending years or even decades plotting this dragon's...

Curiosity about Swashbucklers for a 1-off.

Howdy, I've been lurking the boards but I hadn't been compelled to register until today, where I've been stuck in a slight logic loop here: The group I play 3.5 with is going to be having a one off in a few weeks. Our DM has given us a few set parameters and info concerning the game: 30 point...
