    Next Gen Games?

I don’t know about predicting the future, but I like a lot of what Free League does.

D&D 5E Breaking down alignment to a basic core

I’m for it, but I’d prefer the Lawful/Chaotic paradigm to the Good/Evil one.

D&D 5E Possible Changes to Rebalance the Ability Scores

I always had the feeling 5E was trying to downplay the system mastery elements of 3-4E. Are you sure Wizards cares whether stats are balanced? This observation is mostly in the context of the OP’s suggestion that the next edition must “fix” stats.

D&D General Thoughts on Racial Classes?

This sounds like a cop out answer, but of course it’s going to depend on what players want out of a game. Current default D&D assumptions are the gonzo fantasy that, to me, feels like a mashup of comic superheroes and Chinese mystical kung fu. For that setting, restrictions would be absurd...

    D&D 5E D&D 5e Adventure Reviews

Probably railroad versus sandbox is better applied to GMing style than published adventures, if one is being picky. But I assumed the context of a published adventure is how much support it gives for going off the rails. A module that has a very linear plot and assumes players will make certain...

D&D 5E The case for (and against) a new Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting book

This scenario doesn't ring true to me. A gamer encountering a setting for the first time will be interested depending on their personal biases. Some gamers love world settings; this has been amply proven over the years and the RPG as a genre probably wouldn't have lasted without such interests...

D&D 5E Survivor 5e Giants (A-L) - Frost Giant gives all its challengers the chills

Don’t hate on the Hill Giant. It’s the classic giant of fairytales!

D&D 5E The case for (and against) a new Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting book

I agree. And FR is basically the only setting used for all D&D computer games and board games, making it even more likely that less entrenched RPG fans know it to the exclusion of all other settings. And to the Dark Sun discussion, really? Surely this has gone way past tangency to the topic of FR.

D&D 5E The case for (and against) a new Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting book

If one can be pragmatic and ignore that MtG is another brand owned by WotC, I think many MtG planes have tremendous creative value. It's actually a blessing that they are picking some highlights to bring to D&D. There are entire creative writing teams and enormous artistic talent poured into...

    D&D 5E All weapons doing d6?

To me, this is a rabbit hole that benefits very little from delving into. Some people like different damage type per weapon (whether traditional style or 13th Age style), others might enjoy reducing all weapons to a d6. But there is no meaningful reduction in complexity for the latter. Is...

D&D 5E Who Would Dominate the Multiverse?

The Beyonder is a more pure plot element. Q shows far more fallibility (is one of many in his race, is stripped of his powers at one point, etc). Q has more character development, but clearly the Beyonder in this face off.
