    Attacking Grappled Targets?

I've actually been playing regularly since...1985. 1st Edition AD&D for years! I think the fact that there generally ARE rules for just about every (other) situation in 3.5 is what had me convinced that this instance must be in there somewhere as well. Time to come up with a decent house rule. ;)

    Attacking Grappled Targets?

Thanks to everyone for weighing in on this...I feel better about my lack of understanding when knowing fully about the amount of confusion in the rules. Again, back to that "example of play" - it specifically states that the spider WOULD get an AoO when you make a grab at it...

    Attacking Grappled Targets?

It's pages 8-10 in the DMG. A really good example of play that I make all of my new-new players read through at least once. In that example, they have a spider drop down onto a character to make an attack (and they have said character make a grab at it to throw it off). The spider effectively...

    Attacking Grappled Targets?

I think the part that has me most messed up is the "example of play" in the DMG. They specifically talk about a spider landing on a character and making an attack from there, but then don't allow a melee attack to be made by any (other) character. I believe I located the same-square rules you...

    Attacking Grappled Targets?

Are there such rules? If you could point me their way that would be spectacular! Thanks man. :D

    Attacking Grappled Targets?

Cool. I read those over some more. I guess what I'm looking for is, is there a chance that you hit your ally when attacking the enemy grappler? It appears so with ranged weapons, but how about with melee? And does it make a difference if you AREN'T grappling? For example - a spider (or stirge...

    Attacking Grappled Targets?

Hey everyone - looking for a little help. Do the 3.5 rules address anywhere the restrictions/penalties/mechanics/outcome of attacking a target that's grappling a friendly creature? How about just located "on" a friendly creature (think spider on your shoulder that someone swings a sword at)? I...

    Shatter spell questions

If i'm understanding things correctly (what page in the PHB/DMG is this?), a shatter spell allows a weapon to make a fortitude save to not be destroyed, and this is made with the player's save bonus, regardless of what the weapon is made of. So do magic weapons add their own +plus to the...
