    DM as . . .

Also 50/50. I think this is probably the best it could be. DM and player are working together to tell a story, but the DM also must challenge the player. Therefore, the story is often the best when player and DM have a low-level, friendly rivalry.

Abilities: More, less or just right

Actually, I worked it out to the existing 6, plus two more. I would take the insight from Wis and create a new ability score based on this: Perception I also would create an Appearance score. Not all creatures would have an appearance score. Vermin do not usually care how other vermin look...

    Frostburn v. Sandstorm

I think its just what style you like. These don't work so well for me, but I have a friend who loves them, same with the "Races of . . ." series. I prefered "The Complete . . ." series. He did not care for it. Go figure.

What do you drink during games?

My group usually has anything non-alcoholic. That said, beer and wine are allowed. The rule is simple--max 1 drink every 3 hours, no drinks within 2 hours of leaving. Works out well. Enough to be mellow, but not enough to cause the game to break down.

    What is an abberation?

From Webster;s Pocket Dictionary of the English Language 2002: aberration- n. an abnormality; a deviation from the customary course or condition; a delusion or derangement. What this means is that any creature that is so far out of the ordinary that there is no normal creature that fits the...

Is Chaotic evil more evil than Lawful evil?

Well, let me see if I can gum up the works . . . Which is more chaotic, chaotic good, or chaotic evil? Which is more lawful, lawful evil or lawful good? The answer is a bit disturbing, as is the core question in this thread. Consider that evil is about the intentional infliction of harm to...

Help us take down an epic-level psion!

Three steps to victory . . . 1. Cast Forcecage at the yutz. 2. Have your wizard create an antimagic field around himself, then run up to the forcecage. Since forcecage is a bunch of walls of force, it will not be suppressed (under 3.0, see Stronghold Builders, though I remember no change in...

    Guess the LA!

Still need to know the creature type and spell like abilities. Creature type affects BAB, and skill points/HD. All told, I'm thinking LA of +7, not counting the spell-like abilities. Please supply above info, unless I missed it.

    Strongest class

Yes. I picked it because the character name I use for my handle is a wizard that worships Tempus. Needless to say, he likes combat. To all who view this thread-got kicked off before I could submit the poll to be attached (AOL is not my friend). Please visit the poll, and feel free to vote...

Which class do you think is the strongest all around?

Since everyone has run the "weakest" route, I thought I would run the opposite. Presume everyone knows that each class has different strengths and weaknesses based on the class's theme. A fighter vs. a wizard is a crap shoot, as is a cleric vs. a barbarian. The answer seems easy, but a clever...

    Strongest class

Since the weakest have been asked about, how about the strongest. Do not just address combat. Presume a well balanced campaign (things like diplomacy, leadership, intrigue, and the like). Go to the Poll, pick an answer. This thread was to be attached to the poll. Got kicked off while defining...

What core 3.5 race is the weakest?

Actually, no (IMHO). 1. Dex controls the bonuses on many skills, Con only affects Concentration. Good if you plan to play a spellcaster/psion, but otherwise not that big a deal. Next, Con gives you bonus HP. Now, a +2 Con equals one more hp per level. The fact that they lose on Charisma does not...

Legal, reasonable way to make permanency, well, permanent

Actually, my issue with the XP cost is simple: A wizard or sorcerer should not pay experience point costs that high for a spell to be made permanent, but that gives the dispeller two caster level checks to dispel the permanent spell. Consider, an 18th level caster makes enlarge person permanent...
