The idea seems pretty neat to me, I'll talk to my players whether they want to use it in my campaign. The specialized skill system seems a good alternative to me, maybe I'll work it out.
Seems cool to me, I used to play morrowind a lot and it has quite a lot of potential as a campaignsetting. You can use the history and stuff and just retain the normal D&D mechanics. And in the end it's your campaign so if you don't like some parts, remove them.
My group consists of about 9 people of which only 3 are hardcore gamers who "never" miss a session. Only one of those is female. My ex-girlfriend used to play with us but not anymore.

I would vouch for option two since otherwise a cleric with wild empathy and maxed out diplomacy (level +3) would be better at Wild Empathy than a druid (level) of the same level.

Nice worked out paladin variations, way better than those from unearthed arcana. Nice ideas for each variant, now perhaps even I will play a paladin sometime.
