    Temporary front page

For once, EN World loaded fast. That's the one problem I've always had with this site; it loads so damned slow. Still, I'd rather see all the pretty lights than that temporary page. I thought it was some kind of error page!

re: No 4E for Necromancer Games!

Personally, I am going with Pathfinder. I understand your position; you're kind of between a rock and a hard place, and if the future is 4E you should follow it. I think you should release some 3.x material, though, just to keep NG in the forefront. We've got a year until Pathfinder comes...

    A DM's S.O.S

Well, Androlphus, if you need something immediately, and can't think of anything, I suggest pulling out a qucik, pre-written adventure, adjusting on the fly. Adventure Design Philosophy (was: Best D&D Adventures)

As to the various themes ("kill the monsters and take their stuff", "investigate this mystery", etc.), just like novels there are only so many archetypal plotlines. The devil is in the detail; exactly what you encounter makes the difference. Each adventrue, whether homegrown or "storebought"...

Adventure Design Philosophy (was: Best D&D Adventures)

1st edition (and even many 2nd ed) modules were created long before the concepts of "dungeon ecology" and "character hooks". Most were written to be generic adventures, where the DM was free to place them where needed, and develop them to his/her own taste. In other words, although the general...

    How tough are your adventures?

My choice is 3, but let me define: I believe in challenging the group, and thus build encounters based on the group's strengths and weaknesses. Some of my encounters may be considered hardcore to some gamers, while others might be considered milquetoast. In general, I don't try to kill my...

    Gleemax is Dead

EDIT: oops. Somehow this posted twice. Sorry. Goodbye, Gleemax, and good riddance. It was unimpressive as it was, and once WotC announced that anything posted on Gleemax was thenceforth owned by them, I divorced myself from that fetid morass. I am not against a public forum that is >the<...

    Best D&D Adventures

I guess I'm pretty old school. It was a hard decision, since I do have so many favorites, but my top five would have to be: Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth Temple of Elemental Evil Against the Giants Gates of Firestorm Peak Tomb of Horrors
