I'm struggling too. I backed it but having second thoughts. I have a shelves full of it, but never played it, and only have run numenera a few times.

There is an entire section on running modern games. Foci that are totally mundane - Infiltrates, Leads, Would Rather Be Reading, Works the System\Back Alleys, Works for a Living, Murders, Runs Away, Solves Mysteries, Looks for Trouble, etc. Using subtle cyphers one can totally run a noir, Bond...

Oof! Yikes that's bad. Ehhh Kobold Press and A5e has it figured out for 5e systems, and art, and that's more than plenty for me.

What anniversary? The 50th anniversary that they did nothing for?

It had a huge uptick in popularity due to ST and COVID. Professor DM goes over this quite a bit on dungeon Craft.

What will WotC do when they don't have Stranger Things to help prop them up? I want to be excited for D&D, I really do, but there is nothing on the slate that isn't a rehash of a previous product in theme or topic.

Agreed. It's also unfortunate that Jess is a World of Darkness. Her entire life even. :P

I took ran\ run for coworkers. I rolled off 5e because no one could be bothered to read the handbook or their class. So we'll do something lighter like Basic Fantasy or Castles & Crusades. I feel the same way, I'm doing all the work and they show up, or don't, to play for a few hours...

This cover is terrible. OOF, not a fan even back then, but I did like the Dragon #90 harpy cover. A generally decent to OK issue, if I recall correctly. Man, I miss reading gaming magazines, Dragon, Shadis, Dungeon, etc.
