D&D 5E Xanathar's Guide to Everything: What subclasses made the cut?

except that no it doesn't have to work in that myopically specific way. an edit that only adds text is still errata.

creating an alternative is by itself a rule change.

D&D 5E Xanathar's Guide to Everything: What subclasses made the cut?

Doesn't change the fact that its what is being done in any revision of any kind. Any revision that doesn't include a new edition printing. again functionally identical. no difference of any kind in what your describing, works in exactly the same way. also something that has already happened...

D&D 5E Xanathar's Guide to Everything: What subclasses made the cut?

whispers is another one of the darker themed ones that no one puts on their predictions lists, like shadow and twilight, to me these are no brainer the class needs something to fill this end of the spectrum picks. I'm getting a sense that they are putting in things to fill more feywild and...

And your literally describing what the word errata means. your saying it won't be errata, it will just be identical to errata in every conceivable way.

don't want to quote everyone, expressing this sentiment but your problem with the concept is just the name, its not a lot of work to refluff it or for the design team to expand the fluff. I'm a fan of the raven queen character/power since its a death as nature instead of death as creepy evil...

D&D 5E Xanathar's Guide to Everything: What subclasses made the cut?

meh judging of particular mechanical features doesn't tell much about if its going to be official or not, as compared to the overall theme and playstyle. They've iterated the released ones a bunch. neither protection or grave are a clear lock to me since I can already build both themes pretty...

D&D 5E Xanathar's Guide to Everything: What subclasses made the cut?

K what you describe is errata, separate document making a correction or revision. Thats errata. Your describing it as being everything the word errata means and then declaring it not errata...... Also "Players can select the original ranger or the revised version, though DMs will always be free...

D&D 5E Xanathar's Guide to Everything: What subclasses made the cut?

no way in living hell is revised ranger a +1 its base rules, hence the use of the word "revision" +1 is for expansions, errata is for revisions. all precedent for small content bundles and statements about implementation goals indicate its going to be considered PHB content You've got it...

D&D 5E Xanathar's Guide to Everything: What subclasses made the cut?

nothing about this statement makes sense. how on earth would that make it solely for the revised ranger? Are you under the impression that no subclasses written anywhere else would work with the revised ranger then? kinda defeats the purpose of a revision if you can't use it with anything else.

D&D 5E Xanathar's Guide to Everything: What subclasses made the cut?

reasonable odds they publish Deep stalker with the revised ranger, instead of Xanathars, to make it base rules, instead of the 'plus one' for organized play. They have been issuing it as part of the revised ranger updates, and not with the rest of the more subclasses for splat book ones. its an...

D&D 5E Xanathar's Guide to Everything: What subclasses made the cut?

Bard, Druid, and Ranger have only 2 published options prior to this so I'd say they are more likely to get them, they took how many specs existed into account for Wizard. They didn't really care about Cleric already having nearly as many as wizard though so they aren't paying that much attention...
