Game of Thrones rpg? Midnight campaign setting?

Midnight is in production and will be released in March. The setting material is being developed by Jeff Barber, the creator of Blue Planet, and Wil Upchurch is doing the new rules and mechanics development. We'll have more information on Midnight, as well as content and art previews, as we get...

    ENWorld's Fair Postponed

Hey Ryan, Do we have to register for Cybercon before registering for EN World Fair events? Or can we post our characters, wait to see if we get into one or more events, and then register for Cybercon? I really don't want to register and then discover that I didn't get into any events.

    ENWorld's Fair Postponed

I was actually thinking clerics. A full-rack of power-up spells is going to be nasty in the duel and joust. If they don't recharge after each round in the events, though, it might be okay. How much in-gametime passes between the rounds of the duel and the joust? I'll have to crunch some numbers. ;)

    ENWorld's Fair Postponed

Re: Re: questions I don't have much faith in the honor system. On the other hand, if you allow spells to be recovered after each event, spellcasters are going to totally dominate the competitions (IMHO). And it's not just spells -- there are also limited-use class features to consider, such as...

    WotC Setting Search News

Re: Congrats...but? It's probably a matter of perspective. As the author of the proposal, I don't think of Dawnforge as a "scrap" or a "reject," though I knew it was inevitable that some folks would characterize it that way. I look at it as the germ of a setting that some smart folks at the...

    Payment of Writers

EN World ate my rant! I posted a long response to this, but I think I previewed and then didn't submit it. I'll try to keep it shorter this time just in case the original reappears from the ether. All due respect Erik, but markets don't work like this. The consumer generally doesn't care or...

    WotC Setting Search News

I don't have any plans currently to mess with the default technology level of D&D very much. Dawnforge is set in a mythic Golden Age, but that doesn't necessarily imply a more primitive Bronze Age sort of technology level. The scope of the setting is also quite broad, however, so there can also...

    WotC Setting Search News

Zarathustran: You pretty much nailed it. Dawnforge is more about putting the PCs centerstage and letting them create legends than about uncovering or retelling the legends of a past age. There will be rules for creating artifacts -- though it won't simply be a matter of spending a ridiculous...

    WotC Setting Search News

Hey all, Dawnforge, a setting proposal we developed here at Fantasy Flight, made it to the semifinal round in WotC's setting search. We were notified today that we did not advance to the final round. The good news is that we plan to release the Dawnforge campaign setting at GenCon 2003. For...

Drain-based Magic System (a la Shadowrun)

Re: Will save to resist drain This is harder to abuse than a skill check, but the open-ended nature of 3E is still going to cause problems. I guess it depends how scalable you want the system to be. Do you want high- to epic-level casters to be able to cast 9th-level spells all day with...

Drain-based Magic System (a la Shadowrun)

This is similar to what we're doing in our Midnight campaign setting, so I'll offer some words of advice garnered from playtesting. First, think very carefully about the Resist Drain skill check. Skill bonuses are ridiculously cheap in D&D, and unless you change the system, your mid- to...

FFGs Midnight Campaign - Take a look at this!!!

Thanks for the kind words. I'm editing Imperial Supply as we speak, so look for it in stores next month. Midnight will receive support, though we haven't decided on the release schedule yet. Stay tuned!
