1-4: wizard/sorcerer uses sleep or other save-or-lose spells that target will, the fighter's worst save.
5+: wizard/sorcerer flies and stays out of fighter's range.
But this isn't about class vs. class. When people discuss casters being superior, it's more about how they can handle the threats...
One thing I would like to see is feats still be useful at higher levels. Sure, at first level 3 or 5 hit points might be nice, but get to level 5 and it seems like a drop in a bucket. Or +1 to hit with a specific weapon gets negligible at 15th level when you either auto-hit with anything but a 1...
The biggest thing I disliked about the AEDU system was the encounter powers. I wished they were more like the Binder's abilities from Tome of Magic, usable once every five rounds. Sure, they may end up being once an encounter anyways, but that fifty round encounter where you used up your big...
I would personally like to see each class based around three abilities: primary stat, secondary stat, and constitution. (Or you could just say primary and secondary stat if you feel that constitution should not have priority). I still think class choice should be first, race second, and...
Round it up to 1.5, so every 2 squares of movement = 2*1.5 = 3 squares.
Fun fact: Pythagorean formula is a shortened law of cosines. Since Cos(C) of a 90 degree angle = 0, it becomes a^2 +b^2 = c^2 + 2*a*b*0, so you just drop it to a^2 + b^2 = c^2. It's not important to this discussion, but...
Main reason? a^2 + b^2 = c^2 + 2*a*b*cos(C), where C is the angle between sides a and b. Simply put, if you ignore the rule while on a grid, you could actually move FARTHER than what you're supposed to.
I'm partial to Full Plate and a Greatsword. Also the same reason I enjoy being Ret in WoW (and I'm partial to swords over axes, maces, and hammers). Then again, it depends on the character I play.
If you go based on the tables, then a CR10 since that is what the encounter equals to. That's why I prefer the chi/rho method (which is part of the Character EL/CR calculator) since 2 CR8 (which can be slightly harder than a single CR10 creature) gets slightly more, 960 per character for 2 CR8...
I use a spreadsheet I found at this place: Andargor's Home
It's about 5 sections down titled D&D 3.5 - Mixed-CR EL/XP Calculator. It also gives expected survival and resource use rates, and has every monster in at least MM1 already in it. Granted, I have no idea how to use the power adjustment...
SA is short for sneak attack. Basically your way of increasing damage. Oh, and before I forget, Order of the Bow Initiate (CW) is a nice prestige class to check out for archers.
Precise Shot so you don't take the -4 penalty is a must. Point-blank Shot since you'll be in 30ft for SA. Deadeye Shot (PHB2) will grant you SA whenever you want.
You're survivability should still be good since Dex would be your main stat.
If you go Ranger, Hunter's Mercy is always a good...
I think the paladin deserves a small bonus to his XP. He took the unfavorable route based on his alignment and code of conduct (to the bane of the rest of the party). And since they survived, perhaps the group gains half or quarter xp from it?
As for the other, they overcame the challenge.
There is a weapon enchantment that increases the effective enhancement bonus based on your power point reserves. Sadly, a reserve of 1-2 would only make it a +1 weapon.
How is this for an ability?
Void Zen Strike: By focusing their effort on a single enemy, a monk can strike with deadly force. A monk may as a full round action select a target, perform a concentration check, and then make a flurry attack with unarmed or special monk weapons based on the...
Traveler's cloaks are nice. Endure elements, 1/day trail rations, can be made into a tent for sleeping.
Any spells that stop cold damage would be great for buffing.
Wands of curing (medium if you can afford it, but light is still extremely useful)
If you think you'll be dealing with more UD...
