Did the Celstials really fail this hard?

D&D =/= Christianity. Just because D&D draws a lot of inspiration from this world's religions, myths and stories doesn't mean they have to follow the same rules. For instance, every greek mythical monster is pretty much present in the Monstrous Manuals, and even though in the myths these...

Fight Your Own Summon for XP, would you allow it?

Well, yes. You make a good point. I think I'd choose to rather not allow it though (should it ever come up, which it won't), simply because a certain type of player might find it unfair that they angered some supernatural creature through their own stupidity and blame it all on the GM, i.e...

Fight Your Own Summon for XP, would you allow it?

Uh... What Gatekeeper? The Gatekeeper for all-things-summoned? Every animal, vermin, outsider and elemental? I think I see what you're saying, but I find it hard to imagine "The Gatekeeper" as a plausible entity. Especially one whose exp is exactly the same as the all-things-summoned put...

Fight Your Own Summon for XP, would you allow it?

Haha, I see! Well, it wouldn't work with my group, but that's okay because I like it when they're on the same page as me. Little problem areas get discussed and they're usually pretty mature about it when I give my reasons for wanting to do something in a certain way. No two groups are alike...

Fight Your Own Summon for XP, would you allow it?

That probably works if you don't show your players how you got to a certain amount of exp after a whole session or even a story arc, it doesn't really apply if you have players who wish to know what goes on behind the DM's curtain.

Fight Your Own Summon for XP, would you allow it?

Yeah, no. That's like handing out free exp to your players. That will get old -and annoying- real fast.

    CR for a Meatshield

I agree with Empirate. Simply designing a monster to be the ultimate flanker is a bit lame. You could boost the big bad a lot more just by having some buffs be active on it. Any kind of extended bless/aid/prayer spell or even recitation works. Bull's Strength would work too, but you don't...

Hmmm... even when it concerns a hostile takeover? It is (probably) true that the currency is tied to some form of precious material, probably even the same kind as that of the other side. Does that change the facts though? Would the local currency not collapse if the enemy swoops in and takes...

    What's up with Factorum?

I like the idea of the Factotum, but I would never allow one in my game. Not because it's a game breaking class, but because it's yet another base class that has been added some years after the core base classes, and the extended base classes, and the variant classes, and the class feature...

As mentioned in my original post, the money doesn't exist in precious metals. The story being as old as it is, the starting point of "standard D&D" has been deviated from ages ago, haha! They COULD withdraw their money in the form of some kind of precious material, but their wealth being what...

Haha, I like this too. It could be a whole story arc in its own right. And when they finally catch up with him he'll just shrug his shoulders and say he spent it all.

Currently they are living on the continent that's on the winning side, but they're trying to subtly undermine everything so that their side loses. The other continent doesn't really trust them yet, so they're not likely to gain any special favors once everything turns south. And south it will...

So yes, hi! I’m not exactly new to the forum, I’ve been lurking for more than a year here now, reading the various topics and learning about your weaknesses and such, so I thought it was finally time to make an account and post a topic of my own and who knows, maybe even contribute with posts...
